Business Intelligence Engineer Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business intelligence engineer job in Chicago?
Target Chicago's Loop-based financial institutions, Fulton Market tech firms, and the city's large healthcare networks, which are among the most active hirers. Proficiency in SQL, Power BI or Tableau, and cloud data platforms gives candidates a strong edge here. Networking through Chicago tech meetups and data community events also opens doors that a cold application often won't.
Which companies hire business intelligence engineers in Chicago?
Chicago business intelligence engineer roles are posted by Google, TransUnion, and The Hartford and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's hiring mix is broad, covering major banks and insurers in the Loop, mid-size SaaS companies in River North, and large health systems on the Near North Side.
Are there remote business intelligence engineer jobs in Chicago?
Yes, business intelligence engineering is well-suited to remote and hybrid arrangements because the work is analytical and screen-based rather than on-site. About 59% of business intelligence engineer openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the desk-driven nature of the role. Data modeling, dashboard development, and reporting tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remote in Chicago-based teams.
How can I get a business intelligence engineer job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through analyst or reporting associate roles at mid-size companies in Fulton Market or the Loop, where teams are lean and junior engineers take on real project work early. Chicago's large healthcare systems and insurance carriers also hire entry-level BI developers who are strong in SQL and Excel. Building a portfolio with publicly available Chicago city data can demonstrate practical skill to local hiring managers.

Chicago business intelligence engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026.
