The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Business Intelligence Analyst with a strong data engineering orientation to join our growing analytics team. This high-visibility role is pivotal to our hyper-growth journey: you will engineer robust data pipelines, integrate systems via APIs, leverage AI coding tools daily to move fast and deliver quality, and produce insights that directly shape financial strategy and operational excellence across our trucking and logistics business.
This is a perfect role for someone early in their career who loves coding, is genuinely excited about using generative AI tools to supercharge productivity and creativity, understands the nuances of finance and logistics metrics, and wants to wear multiple hats in a collaborative, problem-solving culture. Your contributions will have immediate, visible impact as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines and dimensional data models that consolidate data from financial systems (including Sage Intacct), TMS platforms, telematics, external APIs, and other sources into a reliable analytics foundation.
- Write efficient, well-documented SQL and Python code for data transformation, analysis, automation, and API integrations. Extensively leverage generative AI coding assistants (Claude, Grok, Cursor, etc.) to accelerate development, improve quality, and innovate.
- Create clear, interactive dashboards and KPI reports in Qlik and other BI tools that deliver actionable visibility into financial metrics (revenue, margins, cost analysis, profitability by lane/customer) and logistics KPIs (asset utilization, on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, route performance, etc.).
- Integrate and consume data from RESTful APIs and various business systems, handling authentication, JSON parsing, and error management to automate and enrich data flows.
- Perform ad-hoc analyses and root-cause investigations to uncover trends, inefficiencies, cost-saving opportunities, and strategic growth levers in our trucking and finance operations.
- Collaborate closely with finance, operations, and leadership stakeholders in an agile environment—translating business questions into technical solutions and delivering insights that drive better decisions.
- Establish and promote data quality, documentation, and governance best practices as our data ecosystem expands rapidly with company growth.
- Proactively identify opportunities and prototype innovative data solutions, automations, or analytics capabilities that support our hyper-growth objectives and competitive positioning.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of hands-on professional experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or data engineering roles. Direct experience supporting finance teams or working in trucking, logistics, or supply chain industries is a strong advantage.
- Strong Excel knowledge is required (advanced formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, data modeling).
- Advanced SQL skills (complex joins, window functions, optimization) using tools such as SSMS and solid Python programming experience for data work (pandas, requests or similar for APIs, scripting).
- Practical experience designing and implementing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes (including Prefect and SnapLogic), and data modeling (star/snowflake schemas, facts & dimensions).
- Hands-on experience consuming and integrating REST APIs (authentication methods, JSON handling, pagination, error handling).
- Proficiency with BI/visualization tools such as Qlik and others for building insightful, executive-ready reports and dashboards.
- Working knowledge of key finance concepts/metrics (Sage Intacct experience a plus) and/or core trucking & logistics KPIs (e.g., revenue per mile, cost per mile, load factor, deadhead percentage, on-time performance).
- Demonstrated comfort, enthusiasm, and regular hands-on use of generative AI coding tools to write better code faster, debug efficiently, refactor, and explore creative solutions. Examples of your AI-assisted work are welcome!
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics/Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Business Analytics, or a closely related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong problem-solving mindset, innovative thinking, self-motivation, and adaptability to excel in a hyper-growth, fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to bridge technical details and business impact for diverse stakeholders.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with logistics or transportation technology platforms (TMS systems, ELD/telematics like Samsara or Geotab).
- Prior work experience in a high-growth startup, scale-up, or rapidly expanding company or team.
- Understanding of data visualization best practices, dashboard storytelling, or basic statistical/analytical techniques.

Business Systems Analyst Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business systems analyst in Utah?
A bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or business is the standard starting point for business systems analyst roles in Utah. There is no state-issued license required to work in this role, but employers across Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front strongly favor candidates who hold industry credentials such as the CBAP or an Agile certification. Building experience through internships with Utah's large healthcare systems or fintech companies is the most common path into a first analyst position.
How much do business systems analysts make in Utah?
Business systems analysts in Utah earn a median of about $98,770 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,130 for the lowest 10% to over $133,450 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business systems analysts in Utah?
Employers hiring business systems analysts in Utah right now include Zions Bancorporation, Collabera, and University of Utah, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Utah's dense mix of financial services headquarters, health systems, and enterprise software companies means demand is steady across both large organizations and fast-growing technology firms along the Wasatch Front.
Which Utah cities have the most business systems analyst jobs?
Salt Lake City, Lehi, and Draper hold the most business systems analyst openings in Utah. Salt Lake City drives the bulk of demand as home to major financial institutions, health system headquarters, and enterprise technology offices, while Provo benefits from a dense cluster of software companies and a large university-educated workforce, and Ogden draws analysts supporting logistics, government contracting, and manufacturing operations.
Are there remote business systems analyst jobs in Utah?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 69% of business systems analyst openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how thoroughly the work can be done through documentation tools, video collaboration, and shared project platforms. Requirements gathering and data analysis tasks are the most commonly offered as fully remote, while roles involving on-site stakeholder workshops or ERP go-lives more often require in-person presence at least part of the time.
How can I get hired as a business systems analyst in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to move laterally from a role that already involves systems or data work, such as a business analyst intern, data coordinator, or operations specialist at a Utah healthcare organization or fintech employer. Intermountain Health and several Provo-area software companies run structured internship and new-graduate programs that place candidates in analyst support roles. Earning a foundational credential such as the PMI-PBA or completing an Agile certification course significantly strengthens applications from candidates without direct business systems analyst experience.
Where can I find and apply to business systems analyst jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to business systems analyst jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings across Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, and surrounding areas. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the employers posting them.
