After passing, you are listed on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry, maintained by the New York State Department of Health, which employers verify before hiring. Many community colleges and vocational schools throughout the state offer approved programs.
Which companies hire c.n.a.s in New York?

New York's large integrated health systems, skilled nursing chains, and home care agencies consistently post c.n.a. openings year-round across all five boroughs and upstate regions.
Which New York cities have the most c.n.a. jobs?
The cities with the most c.n.a. openings in New York are Newark, Clifton Springs, and Smithtown. New York City dominates the distribution because of its density of hospital systems, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies, while Buffalo and Albany anchor significant regional healthcare markets driven by large academic medical centers and long-term care networks serving aging upstate populations.
Are there remote c.n.a. jobs in New York?

About 2% of c.n.a. openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve care coordination, telephonic patient support, or training and compliance functions rather than direct bedside care.
How can I get hired as a c.n.a. in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is enrolling in a state-approved c.n.a. training program, many of which are offered free or at low cost through New York nursing homes that hire graduates directly upon certification. Large employers like NYC Health + Hospitals and Northwell Health run new hire orientation tracks for recently certified c.n.a.s. Candidates coming from home health aide or patient care technician roles often transition without additional schooling, and listing on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry is the credential that opens the door.
