Care Manager Jobs in St. Louis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a care manager job in St. Louis?
Start by targeting St. Louis's dominant hiring sectors: health systems anchored in the Central West End, managed care organizations operating out of Clayton, and community behavioral health agencies throughout Midtown and South City. Candidates with experience coordinating complex cases, working with Medicare or Medicaid populations, or navigating transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings tend to move fastest in this market. A background in social work or nursing gives you a clear edge locally.
Which companies hire care managers in St. Louis?
Employers hiring care managers in St. Louis right now include Mercy, BJC HealthCare, and Marthas Hands, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. St. Louis's hiring landscape is shaped by large academic medical centers, regional insurance carriers, and a growing network of community health organizations across the metro.
Are there remote care manager jobs in St. Louis?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role type. Care managers in utilization review, telephonic case management, and insurance-side coordination are the most likely to work remotely, while roles embedded in clinical teams or community settings are almost always on-site. About 40% of care manager openings tied to St. Louis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with managed care and insurance employers accounting for most of those flexible arrangements.
How can I get a care manager job in St. Louis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in St. Louis is through a care coordinator or patient navigator role at one of the city's federally qualified health centers, community mental health agencies, or hospital discharge planning teams. These positions build the case management skills and documentation experience that St. Louis employers look for before hiring into full care manager titles. Volunteering with organizations serving underserved populations in North St. Louis or the Botanical Heights area can also strengthen an application.
Which industries hire the most care managers in St. Louis?
Most care manager openings in St. Louis sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Insurance, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. St. Louis's status as a regional hub for academic medicine and managed care insurance creates consistent demand across those sectors, with behavioral health and long-term care also contributing a meaningful share of local openings.
