Design Center Kitchen & Bath is a San Diego-based kitchen and bath showroom specializing in interior design, custom cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tile, and premium finished materials. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Manager to oversee Design Center operations, support business development, build strong industry relationships, and guide our design and sales team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has a passion for the home improvement and design industry, and can balance day-to-day operations with opportunities to grow the business.

Responsibilities

Business Development & Relationship Management

• Proactively identify, contact, and develop relationships with general contractors, interior designers, architects, custom home builders, and other industry professionals.
• Generate new business through cold outreach, networking, referrals, and industry relationships.
• Build and maintain long-term trade accounts that generate recurring showroom business.
• Follow up with prospective clients, existing accounts, and outstanding estimates.
• Develop strategies to increase showroom sales and client acquisition.

Showroom Operations & Sales Management

• Oversee daily showroom operations and ensure a professional, organized, and welcoming environment.
• Manage and support showroom designers who are responsible for both design and sales.
• Monitor sales pipelines, open estimates, project deadlines, and client follow-ups.
• Conduct weekly team meetings to review performance, project progression, and outstanding opportunities.
• Ensure estimates, proposals, and orders are completed accurately and efficiently.

Financial Management & Profitability

• Maintain a minimum target gross profit margin of 35%.
• Review and audit estimates, material costs, trade discounts, freight, and project specifications before contracts are finalized.
• Monitor sales volume, gross profit, and overall showroom performance.
• Identify and address pricing inconsistencies, excessive discounting, and potential cost overruns.
• Ensure profitable sales growth while maintaining strong client relationships.

Leadership & Executive Reporting

• Lead, mentor, and hold the showroom design and sales team accountable for performance.
• Establish clear expectations for follow-up, customer service, sales conversion, and project quality.
• Provide weekly reports to ownership outlining sales, gross profit margins, new client acquisition, pipeline activity, and showroom operations.
• Work directly with company ownership to establish and execute business growth strategies.

Qualifications

• Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in showroom management, architectural design sales, cabinetry, countertops, flooring, building materials, or a related industry.
• Demonstrated experience in business development, cold outreach, networking, and B2B relationship building.
• Strong understanding of markup versus gross profit margin calculations.
• Experience reviewing estimates, material costs, pricing, and project profitability.
• Previous experience managing, mentoring, or supervising a sales or design team.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client relationships simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of design software such as 2020 Design, Chief Architect, or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and sales pipeline management.

Compensation & Earning Potential

We offer a competitive compensation package with a guaranteed base salary and additional performance-based incentives.

• Guaranteed Base Salary: $6,000 per month ($72,000 annually).
• New Client Acquisition Bonus: Each qualifying new client you personally bring to the showroom, paid upon completion and full payment of their first project.
• Monthly Performance Bonus: Earn additional monthly bonuses based on showroom sales volume and overall business performance.
