Most Louisiana employers also require or strongly prefer national certification through PTCB or ExCPT. A high school diploma or GED is the minimum educational requirement for registration.
Which companies hire certified pharmacy technicians in Louisiana?

Louisiana's large hospital networks and regional retail pharmacy chains consistently represent some of the most active sources of openings across the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most certified pharmacy technician jobs?
New Orleans, Covington, and Shreveport have the most certified pharmacy technician openings in Louisiana. New Orleans and Baton Rouge drive the highest volume through their concentration of hospital systems, academic medical centers, and high-traffic retail pharmacy locations, while Shreveport's regional medical hub status and established health networks support consistent demand in the northwest part of the state.
Are there remote certified pharmacy technician jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of certified pharmacy technician openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on, patient-facing nature of most pharmacy technician work. The roles most likely to allow remote work involve prior authorization processing, pharmacy benefits coordination, or telepharmacy support rather than traditional dispensing.
How can I get hired as a certified pharmacy technician in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to retail pharmacy chains or large hospital systems in Louisiana that run structured on-the-job training programs for new technicians, such as those operated by Ochsner Health or regional Walgreens locations. Many Louisiana employers will hire candidates without prior experience if they hold or are actively pursuing Louisiana Board of Pharmacy registration. Completing a board-approved pharmacy technician training program at a Louisiana community college, such as Delgado Community College or Bossier Parish Community College, strengthens your application and in some cases satisfies the registration requirement at the same time.
