Entry Level Chemical Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level chemical engineer job?
Focus on internship experience, relevant coursework, and any lab or process work you can point to concretely. Employers at this level look for familiarity with process simulation tools, safety protocols, and unit operations. Tailoring your resume to each posting, highlighting capstone projects, and applying to companies with formal new grad programs gives you a real edge over candidates with generic applications.
Which companies hire entry level chemical engineers?
Companies hiring entry level chemical engineers right now include Kiewit Corporation, ioMosaic Corporation, and Marketech International Corporation USA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers large manufacturers and specialty chemical firms to energy companies and consumer goods producers, many of which run structured rotational or new grad programs designed to develop junior engineers on the job.
Are there remote entry level chemical engineer jobs?
Yes, though most roles at this level are on-site given the hands-on nature of chemical engineering work. About 3% of entry level chemical engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to sit in process design, data analysis, or regulatory support functions where lab presence is not required daily.
Are these new grad chemical engineer jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior chemical engineer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward that requirement, or explicitly accepts a strong academic portfolio in place of full-time work history. Look for language like 'recent graduates encouraged to apply' or 'entry level considered' as clear signals.
Which industries hire the most entry level chemical engineers?
Entry Level chemical engineer roles concentrate in Education, Consulting & Professional Services, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the junior level because they rely on continuous process improvement, regulatory compliance work, and lab support that are well suited to candidates building hands-on experience early in their careers.
