We are actively looking for an Entry Level Civil Engineer to join our Norfolk office.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Assist and support designs and construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models
- Assist the preparation of engineering designs by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data
- Create feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data
- Prepare design documents and reports for civil site development (site layout, grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems)
- Perform calculations, prepare cost estimates, drawings, technical specifications, and write reports
- Assist in the production of engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules
- Perform limited field observations in support of construction and data collection

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
- Engineer in Training certification preferred
- 0 to 2 years of experience as a civil engineer, preferably with experience in site layout, stormwater, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems
- Related internship experience for entry-level candidates is required
- Proficiency AutoCAD and Civil3D
- MicroStation and experience in stormwater modeling using WaterCAD or SWMM software is desired
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Availability and willingness to travel
- Due to client parameters, selected candidate must show (post offer) proof of U.S. citizenship and clear results of a thorough background check that may include but is not limited to credit and criminal history
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
- Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire
Physical Requirements:
Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
