Clinical Assistant Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical assistant job in Boston?
The strongest path to a clinical assistant job in Boston is targeting the Longwood Medical Area, where academic medical centers, research hospitals, and specialty clinics cluster and hire consistently. Candidates with phlebotomy, EHR documentation, or medical assistant certification stand out. Community health centers in Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and Dorchester also hire steadily and often value bilingual Spanish or Haitian Creole speakers, which gives you a real edge in Boston's market.
Which companies hire clinical assistants in Boston?
Employers hiring clinical assistants in Boston right now include Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Boston Children's Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's hiring mix skews heavily toward large academic health systems and federally qualified health centers, alongside a growing number of specialty outpatient and urgent care practices.
Are there remote clinical assistant jobs in Boston?
Yes, though remote work is limited for clinical assistants since most roles involve direct patient support, specimen handling, or in-clinic procedures. About 30% of clinical assistant openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to be in care coordination, prior authorization, or administrative support functions rather than hands-on clinical work.
How can I get a clinical assistant job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Boston is applying to community health centers in neighborhoods like Roxbury, East Boston, and South End, which frequently hire entry-level clinical assistants and medical assistants and provide on-the-job training. Volunteer or internship experience at Boston Teaching Hospital affiliates or student health clinics also opens doors. Completing a certified medical assistant program at a local community college strengthens your application significantly with Boston-area employers who see high applicant volume.
Which industries hire the most clinical assistants in Boston?
Most clinical assistant openings in Boston sit in Healthcare & Medical Services and Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's concentration of world-ranked academic medical institutions, biotech-affiliated clinical research sites, and a dense network of outpatient specialty practices drives unusually consistent demand for clinical support staff across those sectors.
