About Us
Mass Bay Behavioral Health is an outpatient behavioral health program at 50 Redfield Street, Suite 300, in Dorchester, MA. We primarily treat mental health conditions and serve many clients with co-occurring substance use disorders. We are seeking an experienced, independent Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who is comfortable treating both populations to provide psychiatric care on a part-time contract basis.
Position Details
- 1099 independent contractor
- $110 per hour
- 8 hours per week: two 4-hour days, Mondays and Wednesdays preferred but open to flexible days and times
- Telehealth is available; in-person time at our Dorchester location is preferred when possible
- This role requires full autonomy: you will be the primary psychiatric and medical decision-maker for your caseload
Responsibilities
- Complete psychiatric evaluations for newly admitted clients
- Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up visits
- Independently make clinical and medical decisions, including diagnosis, prescribing, and medical necessity determinations
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications for mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders
- Prescribe and manage medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as clinically appropriate
- Serve as the medical resource for the clinical team and collaborate with therapists, case managers, and clinical leadership on treatment planning
- Complete timely, accurate documentation in the EMR
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Massachusetts regulations
Requirements
- Active Massachusetts APRN license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (required, including for telehealth)
- Full practice authority in Massachusetts (24+ months of supervised practice completed)
- Board certification (PMHNP-BC)
- Active DEA registration and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR)
- Experience practicing independently and treating both mental health and substance use disorders
- Comfortable prescribing MAT (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone)
Preferred
- Experience in outpatient PHP/IOP programs
- Kipu EMR experience
Pay: $110.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 per week
