Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Jobs in Pennsylvania

Job Overview

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you’ll assess patients, provide medication management, develop treatment plans, and provide compassionate behavioral health care across appropriate care settings. You’ll use clinical judgment, clear communication, and collaboration to support patients’ mental health needs.

Duties

• Conduct patient intake, mental health assessments, and diagnostic evaluations; document findings in electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Develop and monitor individualized care plans, provide health coaching, and coordinate referrals, case management, and discharge planning as appropriate.
• Prescribe and administer medications within applicable scope and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations; apply psychopharmacology knowledge and monitor treatment response.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals under applicable collaborative practice agreements; protect patient privacy in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
• Provide care through clinic, outpatient, or telehealth settings as applicable to the role.

Skills

• Essential: Nurse practitioner qualification and relevant authorization to practice; strong patient assessment, behavioral health, psychiatry, medical documentation, and client communication skills.
• Essential: Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, medication administration, and safe prescribing practices for behavioral health medications.
• Preferred: Experience with EMR/EHR systems; familiarity with ICD-10 coding and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding, familiarity with the PDMP (Prescription Drug Monitoring Program).
• Preferred: Experience with all ages including geriatrics and pediatrics and working with individuals with co-occurring diagnoses.

Pay: $75.00 - $100.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 30.0 per week
