Entry Level Coder Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level coder job?
Build a portfolio of two to four projects that demonstrate you can write clean, functional code in at least one language employers use. Internship experience, open-source contributions, and bootcamp completions all strengthen an application at this stage. Tailor your resume to each posting, highlight the technologies you know, and apply to roles that explicitly welcome candidates with little or no professional experience.
Which companies hire entry level coders?
Companies hiring entry level coders right now include Houston Methodist, Henry Ford Health, and Inova Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide mix of employers, including tech startups, staffing firms, mid-size software companies, and enterprise organizations with structured new-grad programs.
Are there remote entry level coder jobs?
Yes, though on-site roles remain common at this stage. About 59% of entry level coder openings are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, so candidates are not limited to local markets. Fully remote roles can be more competitive for new grads, making a well-documented portfolio especially important when you cannot rely on an in-person impression.
Are these new grad coder jobs?
Yes. The listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior coder roles alongside other entry level positions. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or academic projects in place of full-time work history, or asks for a portfolio rather than a long resume. Look for language like "entry level," "junior," or "new grad" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level coders?
Entry Level coder roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they rely on growing development teams and are more willing to train candidates who demonstrate foundational coding skills and a strong portfolio.
