Verify Your NBCOT Certification Before Applying
Most U.S. hospital systems, including faith-based health networks like Adventist HealthCare, require active NBCOT certification before they'll initiate any visa sponsorship process. Confirm your credential is current and your state licensure application is underway before your first interview.
Target Rehabilitation and Acute Care Openings
Adventist HealthCare fills OT roles across inpatient rehab, acute care, and outpatient settings. Roles tied to post-acute recovery units tend to have more urgent hiring timelines, which can work in your favor when you need an employer willing to move quickly on sponsorship paperwork.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter OT Roles by Visa Type
Sponsorship willingness varies by department and facility. Use Migrate Mate to filter Adventist HealthCare OT openings by the visa types they've sponsored, so you're applying to positions where the path is already established rather than negotiating from scratch.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
Ask directly whether the offer includes H-1B petition costs, premium processing, and attorney fees. Healthcare employers sometimes cover petition fees but not premium processing. Getting this in writing before signing protects you if filing timelines shift after your start date.
Understand How TN Status Works for Canadian and Mexican OTs
If you're a Canadian or Mexican national, the TN visa category covers occupational therapists explicitly under USMCA. TN status can be obtained at a port of entry, has no cap, and is often faster to secure than H-1B, making it worth raising with your Adventist HealthCare recruiter.
Track USCIS Cap Dates When Interviewing in Early Spring
If your offer depends on H-1B cap selection, the USCIS registration window opens in March each year. Time your interview and offer acceptance accordingly so your employer can register you before the window closes. Missing it means waiting a full year before another cap-subject filing.

Find OT at Adventist HealthCare JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Adventist HealthCare sponsor H-1B visas for OTs?
Yes, Adventist HealthCare has sponsored H-1B visas for occupational therapists. As a healthcare employer operating acute care and rehabilitation facilities, they have established processes for supporting international clinical staff. Your best approach is to confirm sponsorship willingness early in the interview process, since availability can vary by facility and hiring timeline.
How do I apply for OT jobs at Adventist HealthCare?
Applications go through Adventist HealthCare's careers portal, where you can filter by clinical role and location. You can also browse open OT positions at Adventist HealthCare filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify which specific openings are relevant to your immigration situation before you apply.
Which visa types are commonly used for OT roles at Adventist HealthCare?
Adventist HealthCare has sponsored H-1B visas for OT roles and also works with F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, which is common for new graduates completing clinical hours. Canadian and Mexican nationals can pursue TN status, which covers occupational therapists as a listed profession under USMCA and typically involves a faster process than H-1B.
What qualifications does Adventist HealthCare expect from OT candidates?
You'll need a master's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program, active NBCOT certification, and licensure in the state where the role is based. For inpatient rehab and acute care positions, hands-on clinical experience in those settings strengthens your application. Some specialized roles may also require experience with specific patient populations such as neurological or orthopedic cases.
How do I manage the timeline between my job offer and visa filing?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date and STEM extension eligibility before accepting an offer, since H-1B filing timelines need to align with your authorized work period. For cap-subject H-1B cases, USCIS registration opens each March, so an offer received outside that window may require you to bridge on OPT or negotiate a later start date with your employer.
