Verify Your OT Licensure Before Applying
Each state where BAYADA operates requires a separate OT license. Before targeting a specific BAYADA branch, confirm your credentials are transferable and that your foreign degree has been evaluated by an AOTA-approved credentialing body.
Target BAYADA Branches in High-Demand Regions
BAYADA's home health model means hiring is branch-specific, not centralized. Focus your outreach on branches in states with documented OT shortages, where local managers have more urgency to fill roles and stronger incentive to pursue sponsorship.
Clarify Sponsorship Eligibility During the Interview
Ask directly whether the branch you're interviewing with has worked with immigration counsel before. BAYADA's decentralized structure means sponsorship readiness varies by location, and confirming this early prevents late-stage surprises after an offer is extended.
Understand TN Status If You Hold Canadian Citizenship
Physical therapists and occupational therapists qualify under NAFTA-successor USMCA TN status. If you're Canadian, TN classification can get you started at BAYADA faster than H-1B processing, since there's no lottery and no USCIS petition required.
Track Your OPT Timeline Against BAYADA's Hiring Cycle
Home health hiring at BAYADA can move slowly due to credentialing requirements. If you're on F-1 OPT, file your H-1B cap registration before your OPT end date creates a gap. The cap registration window opens each March for an October 1 start date.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Sponsoring BAYADA Locations
Not every BAYADA branch actively sponsors visas for OT roles. Use Migrate Mate to identify which locations have a verified sponsorship track record so you're applying where your visa situation is already understood, not explaining it from scratch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does BAYADA Home Health Care sponsor H-1B visas for OTs?
Yes, BAYADA Home Health Care has sponsored H-1B visas for occupational therapists. Because BAYADA operates through a network of local branches rather than centralized hiring, sponsorship availability depends on the specific branch and region. OT roles in home health qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria, which supports H-1B eligibility, but you'll want to confirm the branch's experience with international hires during the interview process.
How do I apply for OT jobs at BAYADA Home Health Care?
You can browse open OT positions at BAYADA through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship is a known part of the hiring process. When applying, make sure your resume reflects U.S.-relevant clinical experience, your credential evaluation is completed, and you have state licensure or an active application in the state where the branch is located. These details directly affect how quickly BAYADA can move forward with an offer.
Which visa types does BAYADA Home Health Care commonly use for OT hires?
BAYADA has used H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for occupational therapy roles. H-1B is the most common long-term path. F-1 OPT and CPT support candidates currently enrolled in or recently graduated from U.S. OT programs. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens whose OT qualifications meet USMCA occupational criteria, offering a faster alternative to the H-1B lottery process.
What qualifications does BAYADA Home Health Care expect from OT candidates?
BAYADA requires a master's or doctoral degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program, an active state OT license in the state where you'll practice, and NBCOT certification. For international candidates, a credential evaluation from an AOTA-recognized body is necessary to confirm your degree meets U.S. equivalency standards. Home health experience is valued, though BAYADA also hires new graduates in some markets where clinical supervision is available.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take for OT roles at BAYADA?
From offer to start date, the timeline depends heavily on which visa you're pursuing. TN status for Canadian citizens can be obtained at the border in a single day. H-1B standard processing takes three to six months after USCIS filing, with an October 1 start date for cap-subject petitions. Factor in BAYADA's credentialing and state licensure steps, which can add four to eight weeks on top of any immigration processing time.
