Get Your Credentials Evaluated Before Applying
Foreign nursing credentials must be evaluated by a CGFNS-approved body before USCIS will process most work visa petitions. Complete your credential evaluation and secure your NCLEX-RN pass before targeting Albany Medical Center roles.
Target Units With Sustained Hiring Demand
Albany Medical Center consistently posts openings across critical care, med-surg, and specialty units. Applying to departments with persistent vacancies gives you better odds that a hiring manager has navigated sponsorship paperwork before and will again.
Browse Open Nursing Roles Through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Albany Medical Center nursing openings by visa type, so you can confirm sponsorship eligibility before investing time in an application. It removes the guesswork of cold-applying to roles that may not support your visa category.
Align Your Start Date With H-1B Cap Deadlines
If your role requires a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS only accepts petitions in April for an October 1 start. Build this into your job search timeline so your offer and credential paperwork are ready well before the registration window opens in March.
Confirm Your State License Is Transferable Before Relocating
Albany Medical Center operates in New York, which is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact. If your RN license is from a compact state, you'll need to obtain a separate New York endorsement before your start date.

Does Albany Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Nurses?
Yes, Albany Medical Center has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for nursing roles. Because nursing positions at registered hospitals can qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria, the H-1B is a viable path, provided your role requires at minimum a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and you meet all licensure requirements in New York State.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Albany Medical Center?
Applications go through Albany Medical Center's careers portal, where you can filter by department and job type. Before applying, confirm the listing notes visa sponsorship availability or reach out to the recruiter directly. Having your NCLEX-RN pass, a current New York RN license, and a credential evaluation report ready will move the process faster once an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Albany Medical Center commonly use for Nursing roles?
Albany Medical Center has sponsored nurses through H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT programs. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose nursing role meets USMCA classification. F-1 OPT is typically used by recent nursing graduates in work authorization periods. H-1B is the most common long-term path for full-time sponsored positions.
What qualifications does Albany Medical Center expect for sponsored Nursing roles?
Most sponsored nursing positions at Albany Medical Center require an active New York RN license, a passing NCLEX-RN score, and a relevant nursing degree. For H-1B eligibility, a BSN is the standard minimum. Specialty units such as critical care or oncology frequently expect additional certifications like BLS, ACLS, or unit-specific credentials alongside prior clinical experience in the relevant care setting.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Nursing role at Albany Medical Center?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. A TN for a Canadian nurse can be processed at the border in a single day. An H-1B cap-subject petition requires registration in March, with employment starting no earlier than October 1 if selected. Premium processing through USCIS can reduce adjudication to 15 business days once the petition is filed, but the cap timeline remains fixed. Use Migrate Mate to identify current openings and plan your application around these windows.
