Translate your credentials for U.S. insurance hiring
Insurance Consultant roles at Alliant require demonstrated knowledge of U.S. commercial lines, carriers, and coverage structures. If your background is from outside the U.S., map your prior experience explicitly to domestic equivalents before applying.
Target Alliant's specialty practice groups directly
Alliant organizes hiring around specialty verticals like construction, healthcare, and financial services. Applying into a specific practice group rather than a generic consulting role signals fit and increases the likelihood your application reaches a sponsorship-willing hiring manager.
Pursue your state insurance license before interviewing
Most states require a Property and Casualty or Life and Health license to work as an Insurance Consultant. Having an active license before your first interview removes a common objection employers raise when evaluating sponsored candidates.
Clarify OPT authorization during the offer stage
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm with the recruiter early that your authorized occupation code matches the Insurance Consultant role. USCIS ties OPT work authorization to your declared field of study, and a mismatch can complicate your employment eligibility before H-1B sponsorship begins.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Insurance Consultant roles
Alliant posts Insurance Consultant openings across multiple offices and practice areas at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Alliant roles that are open to visa sponsorship so you're not applying blind to postings that won't support your status.
Confirm LCA filing scope with your employer contact
Alliant operates across many states, and the DOL Labor Condition Application locks in your work location and prevailing wage. If your role involves servicing clients across multiple offices, confirm with HR which worksite is designated on the LCA before your H-1B petition is filed.

Find Insurance Consultant at Alliant Insurance Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Alliant Insurance Services sponsor H-1B visas for Insurance Consultants?
Yes, Alliant Insurance Services has sponsored H-1B visas for Insurance Consultant roles. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every opening, but the company has an established process for working with USCIS on behalf of qualified candidates. Your strongest path is demonstrating deep specialty knowledge and, ideally, holding an active state insurance license before the offer stage.
How do I apply for Insurance Consultant jobs at Alliant Insurance Services?
You can apply through Alliant's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters open Insurance Consultant positions at Alliant that are open to visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific practice group the role sits within, whether that's construction, real estate, healthcare, or another specialty. Alliant's hiring teams are organized by vertical, so generic applications tend to get less traction.
Which visa types are commonly used for Insurance Consultant roles at Alliant Insurance Services?
The most common pathways are H-1B sponsorship for full-time hires and F-1 OPT or CPT for candidates still in an academic program or post-graduation work period. TN classification is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals working in qualifying professional categories. Insurance Consultant work typically qualifies under the H-1B specialty occupation standard, provided the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a related field.
What qualifications and experience does Alliant look for in Insurance Consultant candidates?
Alliant typically expects a bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field, along with an active state insurance license for the relevant lines of coverage. Candidates who come with prior brokerage or carrier experience in a specific industry vertical, such as construction or healthcare, are prioritized. Analytical skills, carrier relationship knowledge, and familiarity with U.S. commercial insurance market structures are all commonly assessed during interviews.
How do I approach the H-1B sponsorship timeline when targeting Alliant Insurance Services?
The H-1B cap lottery runs once per year, with registration typically opening in March and the earliest employment start date of October 1. If you're on F-1 OPT with a STEM extension, you may have up to three years of work authorization to bridge the gap. Alliant's HR team files through standard USCIS channels, so aligning your offer timing with the annual lottery window is critical. Starting conversations with Alliant recruiters by late fall gives you the best runway for a March registration.
