Translate your insurance credentials for U.S. hiring
If you hold designations like ANZIIF, CII, or CAIB, document how they map to U.S. equivalents such as CPCU or CIC. Alliant's hiring managers in specialty lines value technical credibility, and credential parity signals you can serve clients independently from day one.
Target Alliant's specialty practice groups first
Alliant organizes business development around vertical practices like construction, healthcare, and public entity. Applying directly to a practice-specific opening, rather than a generic sales role, puts your application in front of a team with a defined book of business and a clearer case for sponsorship.
Clarify your visa type before the offer stage
H-1B and TN eligibility hinge on how your role is framed as a specialty occupation. For a Sales Business Development position, tie your degree field to the consultative, risk-analysis components of the job in writing before compensation discussions begin.
Use Migrate Mate to filter live Alliant openings by visa type
Search Alliant Insurance Services on Migrate Mate and filter by H-1B or TN sponsorship to surface active Sales Business Development roles where sponsorship is already confirmed, so you're not cold-applying to positions that may not support your visa category.
Align your start date with H-1B cap timelines
Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. If you're negotiating a Sales Business Development offer in mid-year, flag this window to Alliant's HR early so the LCA filing with DOL and subsequent USCIS petition can begin without missing the cycle.
Confirm your OPT or CPT authorization covers insurance sales
F-1 students on OPT or CPT must work in a role directly related to their major. If your degree is in business, finance, or risk management, document that relationship explicitly when onboarding, since insurance sales involves licensed advisory work that should align cleanly with those fields.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Alliant Insurance Services sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Business Developments?
Yes, Alliant Insurance Services has sponsored H-1B visas for roles in its business development function. Sponsorship is not guaranteed for every opening, so confirm during the recruiter screening stage rather than assuming it applies to all positions. Roles tied to specialty practice groups, where a degree in business, finance, or risk management is a genuine requirement, tend to have the clearest path to H-1B qualification as a specialty occupation.
Which visa types are commonly used for Sales Business Development roles at Alliant Insurance Services?
H-1B is the most common route for degree-holding candidates. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported, which makes Alliant accessible to recent graduates in business or finance fields still within their authorized training period. Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying degrees may also pursue TN visa status, which does not require USCIS lottery selection and can be processed more quickly than an H-1B.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Sales Business Development roles at Alliant Insurance Services?
Alliant typically looks for candidates with a background in insurance, financial services, or a closely related field, along with demonstrated experience in client acquisition or account management. Familiarity with commercial lines, specialty markets, or broker distribution channels is a consistent advantage. A relevant bachelor's degree supports both the hiring case and, if sponsorship is needed, the specialty occupation argument required for H-1B eligibility.
How do I apply for Sales Business Development jobs at Alliant Insurance Services?
You can find and apply for Sales Business Development openings at Alliant Insurance Services through Migrate Mate, which lists active positions filtered by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. When you apply directly, flag your visa situation clearly in the recruiter screening call. This avoids delays later and allows Alliant's HR team to begin DOL and USCIS preparation on the right timeline.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Alliant Insurance Services?
For H-1B cap-subject petitions, the process runs on a fixed federal calendar. Your employer files in April, USCIS conducts the lottery, and approved petitions take effect October 1. The DOL Labor Condition Application must be certified before USCIS filing begins, which typically takes one to two weeks. TN and OPT-based sponsorship moves faster. Building three to four months of lead time into any offer negotiation keeps the process on track.
