Align Your Credentials to Biotech Engineering Standards
Altos Labs hires engineers who bridge biology and technology, so tailor your resume to highlight relevant crossover skills like lab automation, bioinformatics pipelines, or scientific computing. A degree in biomedical, chemical, or computer engineering strengthens your specialty occupation case for H-1B.
Research Altos Labs LCA Filings Before Applying
DOL Labor Condition Application disclosures are public record. Searching Altos Labs filings by job title lets you verify which engineering roles have been sponsored before and what prevailing wage levels were certified, so you enter salary negotiations informed.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Altos Labs Engineering Openings
Not every job listing explicitly states visa sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter open engineering positions at Altos Labs confirmed for sponsorship, so you spend time on applications where your visa situation is already accounted for.
Prepare a Specialty Occupation Letter from Your Future Manager
For H-1B petitions in research-driven environments like Altos Labs, USCIS scrutinizes whether the role genuinely requires a specific degree. Ask your hiring manager early whether they can document that the position demands specialized biotech or engineering expertise, not just a general bachelor's degree.
Negotiate Your Start Date Around PERM or I-140 Timelines
If you're targeting a Green Card pathway through EB-2 or EB-3, PERM labor certification with DOL can take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 is even filed. Factor that into your offer negotiation so your H-1B extensions stay synchronized with your permanent residency timeline.

Find Engineering at Altos Labs JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Altos Labs sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Altos Labs sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles. Because their work sits at the intersection of biology and advanced technology, most engineering positions qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria, which is the foundational requirement for H-1B eligibility. Sponsorship is handled employer-side, so you'll need a job offer before USCIS can process a petition on your behalf.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Altos Labs?
You can apply directly through the Altos Labs careers page, or use Migrate Mate to browse their open engineering positions filtered by visa sponsorship type. Before applying, review the job description carefully to confirm the role aligns with your degree field, since specialty occupation requirements mean your educational background needs to match the specific position.
Which visa types does Altos Labs commonly use for Engineering roles?
Altos Labs sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for engineering roles. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering disciplines under the USMCA agreement. F-1 OPT is typically used for recent graduates as a bridge before H-1B sponsorship, while EB-2 and EB-3 cover longer-term permanent residency pathways.
What qualifications does Altos Labs expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Most engineering roles at Altos Labs require a bachelor's degree or higher in a field directly relevant to the position, such as biomedical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. For H-1B purposes, the degree must be specific to the job, not a general field. Research-facing roles often favor candidates with graduate degrees or hands-on experience in computational biology, lab automation, or data infrastructure.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Altos Labs Engineering offer?
For H-1B, the employer first files a Labor Condition Application with DOL, which typically takes one to three weeks when filed electronically. The H-1B petition to USCIS follows, with standard processing taking three to five months and premium processing available for a 15-business-day adjudication. If you're pursuing an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, PERM labor certification with DOL adds 12 to 18 months before the I-140 stage begins.
