Earn a CPA Before Targeting Aprio
Aprio hires Tax Managers who hold or are actively pursuing CPA licensure. Sitting for the exam before you apply signals you meet the professional credential standard U.S. accounting firms use to benchmark manager-level candidates.
Align Your Specialty to Aprio's Practice Groups
Aprio organizes its tax function by industry vertical, including real estate, technology, and private equity. Framing your resume around one of these specific niches, rather than general tax experience, puts your application in front of the right hiring team.
Search Open Tax Manager Positions on Migrate Mate
Aprio posts Tax Manager openings across multiple U.S. markets simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Aprio roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're only spending time on positions where your work authorization situation is already accounted for.
Clarify EB-2 Versus EB-3 With Your Recruiter Early
Aprio has sponsored both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for accounting professionals. Ask the recruiter directly which category they intend to pursue for your role, since EB-2 typically requires a demonstrated advanced degree or exceptional ability, which affects your PERM preparation timeline.
Get Your Foreign Transcripts Evaluated Before Offers
PERM-based petitions require documentation that your foreign accounting degree meets the U.S. equivalent of a bachelor's or master's in accounting. Have a NACES-member credential evaluation completed before you reach the offer stage to avoid delays once DOL labor certification begins.
Understand the PERM Timeline Before Accepting an Offer
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship for accounting roles runs through PERM labor certification at the DOL, which currently takes well over a year at standard processing. Factor that into your decision if you're on a time-limited status like OPT, since PERM approval alone does not extend your work authorization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Aprio sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Managers?
Aprio's documented sponsorship activity for Tax Manager roles has been focused on employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B visa filings. If you're currently on H-1B status through another employer and considering a move to Aprio, ask the recruiter explicitly whether they will file an H-1B transfer, since their Green Card sponsorship history does not automatically confirm H-1B transfer willingness.
Which visa types are commonly used for Tax Manager roles at Aprio?
Aprio's sponsorship for Tax Manager positions has centered on employment-based immigrant visa categories, specifically EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards. EB-2 typically applies when the role requires an advanced degree or equivalent expertise in accounting. EB-3 covers positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Both paths run through PERM labor certification with the DOL before a petition can be filed with USCIS.
What qualifications are expected for Tax Manager roles at Aprio?
Aprio generally expects Tax Manager candidates to hold a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or a closely related field, along with active CPA licensure or demonstrated progress toward it. Several years of public accounting experience in a relevant industry vertical, such as real estate, technology, or financial services, strengthens your candidacy significantly over generalist tax backgrounds.
How do I apply for Tax Manager jobs at Aprio?
You can browse current Tax Manager openings at Aprio on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship is a confirmed part of the hiring process. When you apply, tailor your resume to reflect the specific industry practice group you're targeting within Aprio's tax division, since their hiring is organized by sector rather than a single generalist pipeline.
How do I plan my timeline if Aprio sponsors my Green Card as a Tax Manager?
EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through Aprio begins with PERM labor certification at the DOL, which currently runs over a year at standard processing. After PERM approval, Aprio files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. If your priority date is not current, you may wait additional years before filing for adjustment of status. Start this conversation with HR before accepting an offer if you're on a status with an expiration date.
