Frame Your Credentials Around U.S. Standards
Aprio works across GAAP-based engagements, so if your bookkeeping background is from outside the U.S., document how your experience maps to U.S. accounting standards. A credential evaluation letter helps hiring managers assess your qualifications without guesswork.
Target Aprio Offices With Active Bookkeeping Demand
Aprio operates across multiple U.S. locations, and bookkeeping demand isn't uniform. Research which offices are actively hiring for this function, then tailor your application to those markets. Applying to the right location improves your odds of reaching a hiring manager who has budget to sponsor.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Aprio Bookkeeper Openings
Aprio's bookkeeping roles cycle through at volume, but not all are easy to track across job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Aprio postings that align with sponsorship pathways, so you're applying to openings where the process is already viable.
Understand Where EB-2 and EB-3 Fit Your Background
Aprio has sponsored bookkeepers through both EB-2 and EB-3 permanent residency categories. EB-3 is the more common fit for bookkeeping roles requiring a bachelor's degree or two years of relevant experience. If your qualifications are stronger, ask your recruiter whether EB-2 has been used for comparable positions.
Ask About PERM Timing Before Accepting an Offer
Permanent residency through PERM requires your employer to run a formal DOL labor market test before filing. That process typically takes six months to over a year before you reach USCIS. Knowing where Aprio is in that workflow for your role affects how long you'll wait for a Green Card.
Prepare Your Employment History for the PERM Audit Trail
DOL audits on PERM applications often scrutinize whether the foreign worker's prior experience was truly in the offered role. Keep clean documentation of your bookkeeping duties, payroll records, and employer contact details going back at least three years before your Aprio start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Aprio sponsor H-1B visas for Bookkeepers?
Aprio's documented sponsorship activity for Bookkeeper roles is concentrated in permanent residency categories rather than H-1B visa. Bookkeeping is generally classified as a specialty occupation that can qualify for H-1B, but the firm's filing pattern for this specific function leans toward EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways. If H-1B sponsorship is a requirement for your situation, raise it directly with the recruiter early in the process.
Which visa types does Aprio commonly use for Bookkeeper roles?
For Bookkeeper positions, Aprio has sponsored candidates through EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, both of which lead to a Green Card. EB-3 is the more typical fit since bookkeeping roles generally require a bachelor's degree or two years of qualifying experience. The EB-2 category applies when the role demands an advanced degree or exceptional ability can be demonstrated.
How do I apply for Bookkeeper jobs at Aprio?
You can find Bookkeeper openings at Aprio through their careers page or by using Migrate Mate, which surfaces Aprio roles filtered by sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to emphasize GAAP familiarity, client-facing bookkeeping experience, and any industry-specific accounting work relevant to Aprio's client base. Following up with a recruiter after applying improves visibility, especially in competitive hiring cycles.
What qualifications does Aprio expect for Bookkeeper candidates seeking sponsorship?
Aprio typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, along with hands-on bookkeeping experience in a professional services or client-serving environment. Proficiency in accounting software commonly used in U.S. firms, familiarity with accounts payable and receivable workflows, and attention to regulatory compliance standards all strengthen an application. Candidates without a four-year degree may still qualify if they have substantial directly relevant work experience.
How do I understand the timeline for a Green Card through Aprio as a Bookkeeper?
The Green Card process through Aprio involves three main phases: the PERM labor certification with DOL, the I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS, and adjustment of status or consular processing. PERM alone typically takes six months to over a year. Your total wait time also depends on your country of birth, since per-country backlogs under EB-3 can extend timelines significantly for applicants born in India or China.
