Tailor your resume to Aprio's tax practice
Aprio staffs Tax Professionals across industries like real estate, technology, and professional services. Align your resume to one of these verticals and highlight relevant compliance or advisory work rather than submitting a generic accounting resume.
Understand the EB-2 versus EB-3 distinction
Aprio sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for this function. EB-2 requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers professionals with a four-year degree. Knowing which category fits your credentials before your interview helps you discuss sponsorship paths confidently.
Clarify sponsorship timing during the offer stage
PERM labor certification, the required DOL step before most employment-based Green Card filings, can take one to two years. Ask your recruiter whether Aprio initiates PERM concurrently with onboarding or waits for a performance milestone, since this affects your planning significantly.
Earn credentials that accelerate your candidacy
A CPA license or active CPA exam progress carries significant weight for Tax Professional hires at accounting firms like Aprio. Candidates who are exam-eligible or already licensed tend to move faster through the hiring process and face fewer sponsorship objections from hiring managers.
Search for open Tax Professional roles on Migrate Mate
Aprio posts Tax Professional openings across multiple practice groups and office locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Aprio roles that align with your visa situation, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already part of the hiring model.
Confirm your work authorization status before applying
If you're on OPT or a STEM OPT extension, verify your end dates before submitting applications. Aprio uses E-Verify, so your work authorization must be active and verifiable at onboarding. A gap between OPT expiration and an H-1B cap-gap period can complicate your start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Aprio sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Professionals?
Aprio's documented sponsorship activity for Tax Professional roles is concentrated in employment-based Green Card categories, specifically EB-2 and EB-3, rather than H-1B visa. If you're currently on an H-1B and seeking a transfer, that's worth raising directly with the recruiter, as firm-sponsored H-1B transfers differ from initial cap-subject filings.
How do I apply for Tax Professional jobs at Aprio?
Applications go through Aprio's careers portal, where roles are listed by service line and office location. You can also find Aprio's open Tax Professional positions on Migrate Mate, which lets you filter by visa sponsorship availability. Tailor your application to the specific practice area, such as corporate tax, pass-through entities, or state and local tax, rather than applying broadly.
Which visa types are commonly used for Tax Professional roles at Aprio?
Aprio's sponsorship pattern for Tax Professionals centers on permanent residence through EB-2 and EB-3. EB-2 applies to candidates with an advanced degree or demonstrated exceptional ability in accounting, while EB-3 covers those with a standard four-year degree. Both pathways require PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does Aprio expect for sponsored Tax Professional roles?
At minimum, Aprio looks for a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience in tax compliance or advisory work. Active CPA licensure or documented progress toward the CPA exam strengthens your application considerably. Roles at the senior or manager level may also require experience in a specific industry vertical like real estate or technology.
How do I understand the Green Card timeline for a Tax Professional position at Aprio?
The EB-2 or EB-3 process typically begins with PERM labor certification at the DOL, which can take one to two years before USCIS receives the I-140 petition. Your priority date, the date USCIS receives the I-140, determines your place in line. For Indian nationals in particular, current visa backlogs in the EB-2 and EB-3 categories can extend total wait times significantly beyond the initial filing period.
