Align Your Credentials With U.S. Tax Standards
If your accounting credentials were earned outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation through NACES before applying. Jobot's clients expect CPA eligibility or an equivalent, and unverified foreign degrees slow down placement reviews significantly.
Target Jobot Listings That Name Visa Types
Jobot posts Tax Professional roles across direct-hire and contract-to-hire structures. Filter for listings that explicitly mention H-1B or OPT sponsorship, since not every Jobot client authorizes sponsorship even when the recruiter does.
Understand How Staffing Firm Sponsorship Works
In a staffing model, Jobot acts as your employer of record and files your H-1B petition, not the end client. Confirm this arrangement early, since your I-129 will list Jobot as the petitioner, which affects portability if you later change placements.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Verified Sponsorship Listings
Not every Tax Professional listing at Jobot will specify sponsorship availability upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter Jobot postings by visa type so you're only spending time on roles where your OPT, H-1B, or TN status is already confirmed as supported.
Clarify TN Eligibility Before the Offer Stage
Canadian and Mexican candidates in tax roles may qualify for TN status under the Accountant category. Confirm with Jobot's recruiting team before an offer is extended, since TN classification requires your role description to match DOL's defined accountant criteria precisely.
Time Your Application Around the H-1B Cap Calendar
If you're on F-1 OPT and your graduation date puts you near the 12-month limit, USCIS's cap-gap rule extends your work authorization through September 30 if a timely H-1B petition is filed. Coordinate your Jobot placement timeline so your start date accounts for this window.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Professionals?
Yes, Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Tax Professional roles. As a staffing and recruiting firm, Jobot acts as the employer of record, which means it files the H-1B petition directly rather than passing that responsibility to an end client. That said, sponsorship availability can vary by specific placement, so confirming with your Jobot recruiter early in the process is essential.
How do I apply for Tax Professional jobs at Jobot?
You can apply through Jobot's website directly or through Migrate Mate, which lets you filter Tax Professional listings at Jobot by visa sponsorship type. When you apply, be upfront about your visa status and timeline in your first recruiter conversation. Jobot's recruiters are experienced with sponsored placements and will assess fit for both the role and the sponsorship structure before moving forward.
Which visa types are commonly used for Tax Professional roles at Jobot?
H-1B is the most common visa type for Tax Professional roles at Jobot, particularly for candidates transitioning off F-1 OPT. TN status is also a viable path for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose job duties align with DOL's Accountant classification. F-1 OPT holders in their active authorization window are also regularly placed while H-1B sponsorship is arranged concurrently.
What qualifications does Jobot expect for sponsored Tax Professional roles?
Jobot's Tax Professional placements typically require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B purposes. CPA licensure or active CPA exam candidacy is frequently expected by end clients. Experience with U.S. federal and state tax compliance, corporate tax returns, or public accounting is consistently listed across active job postings.
How do I time the sponsorship process when applying through a staffing firm like Jobot?
Because Jobot is your employer of record in a staffing arrangement, it files your H-1B petition and coordinates the Labor Condition Application with DOL before submission. The LCA certification typically takes seven business days. Build that into your timeline alongside USCIS processing, which runs three to five months for standard processing or two to three weeks with premium processing. Discuss timing expectations with your Jobot recruiter before accepting an offer.
