Align Your CPA Progress With Aprio's Expectations
Aprio recruits Tax Accountants at multiple levels, but progression toward CPA licensure is a consistent signal of long-term fit. Having at least your exam sections underway before applying strengthens your candidacy and your sponsorship case under EB-2 or EB-3.
Target Aprio's Industry-Specific Tax Practices
Aprio organizes tax work around industry verticals like technology, real estate, and professional services. Positioning your application toward one of these specializations, rather than general tax, increases your relevance to open headcount and makes the business case for sponsorship easier to justify internally.
Understand That PERM Labor Certification Takes Time
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship requires DOL PERM labor certification before USCIS can adjudicate your immigrant petition. That process alone can take a year or more. Factor this into your timeline when evaluating an offer, and clarify with Aprio's HR team when they typically initiate the process.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Active Tax Accountant Openings
Aprio posts Tax Accountant roles across multiple markets and service lines, and positions open and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Aprio openings that align with your visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already on the table.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
Some firms sponsor for the initial H-1B but pause on Green Card filings until a later tenure threshold. Ask directly whether Aprio's offer includes a commitment to both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa sponsorship, and get clarity on who bears USCIS and legal filing costs.
Prepare International Tax Documentation Early
If your prior tax experience was earned outside the U.S., document it thoroughly with employer letters, role descriptions, and transcripts translated to English. USCIS scrutinizes foreign credential equivalency in EB-3 filings, and accounting-specific experience may need credential evaluation to map to U.S. degree standards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Aprio sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Accountants?
Aprio's primary sponsorship pathway for Tax Accountants is employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, not H-1B visa. H-1B sponsorship depends on whether the role qualifies as a specialty occupation and whether Aprio initiates the petition. If you're already on an H-1B through another employer, a transfer to Aprio is possible, but you'd need to confirm their willingness to file an H-1B transfer before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Tax Accountant jobs at Aprio?
Apply directly through Aprio's careers page, or browse open Tax Accountant roles filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate. Aprio hires across multiple office locations and service lines, so narrowing your search by practice area, such as international tax or state and local tax, helps you target openings that match your background and improves your chances of reaching the interview stage.
Which visa types does Aprio commonly use to sponsor Tax Accountants?
Aprio has sponsored Tax Accountants through EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, which lead directly to a Green Card rather than a temporary work status. EB-2 requires an advanced degree or demonstrated exceptional ability in your field. EB-3 covers professionals with a U.S. bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Both require DOL PERM labor certification as the first step before USCIS can process your immigrant petition.
What qualifications does Aprio expect for Tax Accountant roles?
Most Tax Accountant roles at Aprio require a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field, with active progress toward CPA licensure viewed favorably. For experienced hires, prior work in a public accounting environment, familiarity with federal and state tax compliance, and industry-specific exposure such as technology clients or real estate taxation can differentiate your application in a competitive candidate pool.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Tax Accountant at Aprio?
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship involves multiple sequential stages: DOL PERM labor certification, USCIS immigrant petition adjudication, and then visa issuance or adjustment of status. From initial filing to a Green Card, total timelines often run two to four years or longer depending on your country of birth and USCIS processing backlogs. Confirm with Aprio's HR or immigration counsel exactly when they initiate the PERM process relative to your start date.
