Align your credentials with U.S. CPA requirements
Jobot's clients expect Tax Accountants to hold or be pursuing CPA licensure. Before applying, verify your foreign accounting credentials are evaluated for U.S. equivalency, since many state boards require a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency.
Target roles specifying direct client placement
Jobot operates as a placement firm, so your visa is ultimately tied to the end client's willingness to sponsor. Filter for roles where Jobot lists the client industry upfront, since corporate and regional accounting firms tend to have stronger sponsorship precedent than small businesses.
Clarify sponsorship responsibility before the offer stage
Because Jobot places candidates with third-party employers, ask during your first recruiter call who acts as the H-1B petitioner: Jobot or the client. This determines who files the Labor Condition Application with DOL and controls the petition timeline.
Time your application around the H-1B cap window
H-1B petitions for cap-subject positions must be filed with USCIS between April 1 and June 30 for an October 1 start. If you're approaching the end of F-1 OPT, engage Jobot recruiters no later than January to leave room for client selection and LCA preparation.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active Tax Accountant openings at Jobot
Jobot posts a high volume of Tax Accountant roles simultaneously across regions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for positions flagged for visa sponsorship, so you're not applying to roles where the client has already ruled it out.
Prepare a tax-focused portfolio before recruiter screening
Jobot recruiters move quickly and often present candidates to clients within days. Have documentation ready that demonstrates your specialization, whether that is corporate income tax, partnership returns, or international tax compliance, so your profile stands out at the client review stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Accountants?
Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Tax Accountant roles, though sponsorship ultimately depends on the end client since Jobot operates as a staffing and recruiting firm. When you apply, ask the recruiter directly whether the specific client is willing to act as petitioner, and confirm this before advancing through the interview process.
How do I apply for Tax Accountant jobs at Jobot?
You can browse current Tax Accountant openings at Jobot through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles that include visa sponsorship. Once you identify a relevant posting, apply directly and expect a recruiter to reach out quickly for a screening call. Jobot's process moves fast, so having your resume and credentials ready before you apply gives you an advantage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Tax Accountant roles at Jobot?
Tax Accountant roles at Jobot have been filled using H-1B, F-1 OPT, and TN visas. F-1 OPT is common for recent accounting graduates working in their field of study. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying professional categories. H-1B remains the primary long-term option for most international candidates pursuing ongoing employment.
What qualifications does Jobot expect for Tax Accountant candidates seeking sponsorship?
Jobot's client employers for Tax Accountant roles typically expect a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, progress toward or completion of CPA licensure, and hands-on experience with tax preparation or compliance work. Specializations in corporate tax, partnership returns, or multi-state tax tend to be in highest demand across the client base Jobot serves.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship through a Jobot placement?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, make sure your OPT expiration date gives you enough runway to complete the cap registration and petition process. Start conversations with Jobot recruiters in January or February so the client has time to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL before the registration window opens.
