Align Your Credentials to U.S. CPA Standards
JPMorganChase's tax teams expect candidates to be CPA-eligible or already licensed. If your accounting credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation through NASBA before applying so your qualifications aren't filtered out early.
Target Transfer Pricing and Corporate Tax Openings
JPMorganChase's tax function spans dozens of specializations. Roles in transfer pricing and international corporate tax tend to attract more H-1B filings than general accounting positions, so concentrating your applications there improves your odds of landing a sponsorship-eligible role.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Roles
Not every Tax Accountant posting at JPMorganChase is open to visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for openings where JPMorganChase has confirmed H-1B or E-3 sponsorship, saving you from applying to roles that won't support your status.
Clarify Sponsorship Before the Offer Stage
Large financial institutions route sponsorship decisions through central immigration teams, not individual hiring managers. Raise your visa situation with the recruiter during the screening call so legal and HR can confirm eligibility before you reach final rounds.
Understand the PERM Timeline for Permanent Residence
If JPMorganChase extends you an H-1B offer, ask early whether the role is on a PERM track. DOL's PERM process can take 18 months or longer, and starting it in your first year gives you the most runway before H-1B time limits become a constraint.
Prepare for Technical Tax Interviews Specific to Financial Services
JPMorganChase's tax interview process tests knowledge of consolidated return rules, intercompany transactions, and ASC 740 for large financial groups. Holding company structures create unique tax complexity, so preparing on those topics signals you can contribute from day one.

Find Tax Accountant at JPMorganChase JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Accountants?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Tax Accountant roles. The firm has a dedicated immigration team that manages the sponsorship process, which is handled centrally rather than at the business unit level. Not every Tax Accountant opening will be eligible, so confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter during early conversations rather than assuming it applies to all postings.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly use for Tax Accountant roles?
JPMorganChase most commonly uses the H-1B for Tax Accountants, but the firm also sponsors E-3 visas for Australian citizens and H-1B1 visas for Chilean and Singaporean nationals. For candidates seeking permanent residence, JPMorganChase supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through the PERM labor certification process, typically initiated after you've established yourself in the role.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Tax Accountant roles?
JPMorganChase typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with CPA licensure or active candidacy strongly preferred. For mid-level and senior roles, hands-on experience with U.S. corporate income tax compliance, ASC 740 tax provision work, or transfer pricing in a large financial services or holding company environment carries significant weight in the evaluation process.
How do I apply for Tax Accountant jobs at JPMorganChase?
You can browse and apply for Tax Accountant openings directly through JPMorganChase's careers portal. For international candidates who need visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate is the most efficient starting point. It surfaces JPMorganChase Tax Accountant roles where sponsorship has been confirmed, so you can focus your applications on positions that are actually open to candidates requiring H-1B, E-3, or other visa support.
How do I navigate the sponsorship and hiring timeline at JPMorganChase?
For H-1B candidates, JPMorganChase must file the petition before USCIS's April 1 deadline, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest under the cap. This means offers made after April typically mean a wait until the following fiscal year. If you're already in valid H-1B status with another employer, a transfer petition allows you to start sooner. Discuss your current status with the recruiter so the immigration team can plan the filing accordingly.
