Frame your AI work in financial terms
JPMorganChase evaluates AI engineers through a finance lens. When preparing your resume and portfolio, connect your machine learning or NLP projects to outcomes like risk modeling, fraud detection, or trading systems rather than listing generic technical accomplishments.
Target teams actively filing LCAs
JPMorganChase's AI hiring spans retail banking, asset management, and corporate technology. Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure database for Labor Condition Applications filed under Software Engineer or related titles to identify which internal teams are actively sponsoring roles right now.
Distinguish your visa type early in conversations
JPMorganChase sponsors multiple visa categories, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3. Clarifying which category applies to you before an offer is made prevents delays, since the internal legal and HR workflows differ meaningfully across cap-subject H-1B petitions versus cap-exempt E-3 filings.
Build your case around specialty occupation documentation
USCIS scrutinizes AI engineering roles at large financial institutions. Prepare a detailed job duty breakdown that ties your specific responsibilities to a theoretical and practical application of computer science, ensuring your role satisfies the specialty occupation standard before your employer files the I-129.
Use Migrate Mate to find open AI roles at JPMorganChase
JPMorganChase posts Software Engineer AI openings across multiple internal teams and locations, and roles can close quickly. Browse Migrate Mate to filter actively sponsored positions at JPMorganChase so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed, not assumed.
Align your start date with H-1B cap timelines
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, the USCIS lottery runs in March for an October 1 start. Build your offer negotiation around that window so your JPMorganChase start date aligns with when your status actually becomes valid, avoiding unnecessary complications with your current status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineer AIs?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer AI roles. As one of the largest financial institutions in the U.S., the company has a structured immigration program that handles cap-subject H-1B petitions, including premium processing when timelines require it. You'll work through JPMorganChase's in-house legal or an external immigration firm they retain.
How do I apply for Software Engineer AI jobs at JPMorganChase?
Applications go through JPMorganChase's careers portal. For sponsored roles specifically, Migrate Mate filters Software Engineer AI positions at JPMorganChase where visa sponsorship is confirmed, saving you time on roles that won't support international candidates. Tailor your application to emphasize applied AI experience in financial contexts, such as risk, fraud, or trading systems.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly use for Software Engineer AI roles?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Software Engineer AI positions, and supports Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3, which skips the H-1B lottery entirely. H-1B1 visa is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals under free trade agreements.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for Software Engineer AI roles?
JPMorganChase's AI engineering roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, machine learning, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with large language models, deep learning frameworks, or applied NLP in production environments is expected. Candidates with financial services domain knowledge, particularly in risk or trading applications, tend to stand out at the offer stage.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Software Engineer AI role at JPMorganChase?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the timeline runs from the March lottery to an October 1 employment start, roughly six to seven months. E-3 and H-1B1 visa filings move faster since they're not lottery-dependent and can be filed year-round, often completing within four to eight weeks. USCIS premium processing is available for H-1B cases and cuts adjudication to around 15 business days.
