Align your credentials to JPMorganChase's sponsorship criteria
JPMorganChase sponsors Business Development Directors under specialty occupation standards, so your degree must directly relate to the role. A finance, economics, or business degree strengthens your petition. If your degree field is tangential, document relevant graduate coursework or professional certifications to close the gap.
Target JPMorganChase's institutional and corporate banking divisions
Business Development Director openings cluster in JPMorganChase's Commercial Banking and Corporate & Investment Bank divisions. Filtering your search by these business lines, rather than applying broadly, puts you in front of hiring managers who regularly sponsor international candidates for this specific function.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles by visa type
Cross-referencing open positions against JPMorganChase's documented sponsorship history saves time. Migrate Mate filters Business Development Director roles at JPMorganChase by the visa types the company actively sponsors, so you're only pursuing openings where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
Clarify E-3 or H-1B1 eligibility before your first interview
Australian and Singaporean nationals can pursue the E-3 and H-1B1 respectively, both of which sit outside the H-1B lottery. JPMorganChase has sponsored both categories for business development roles. Confirming your nationality-based eligibility upfront lets you frame the sponsorship conversation accurately with the recruiter.
Understand JPMorganChase's LCA timeline before accepting an offer
Before JPMorganChase can file your H-1B or E-3 petition, the company must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL. LCA certification typically takes seven business days. Factor this into your start date negotiation so your offer letter reflects a realistic timeline, not an arbitrary date.
Prepare for PERM if you're targeting a Green Card path
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, JPMorganChase must complete PERM labor certification through the DOL before filing your immigrant petition. PERM timelines currently run over a year in backlog. Raise the green card pathway explicitly during offer negotiations, not after you've already signed, to confirm the company's willingness to initiate the process.

Find Business Development Director at JPMorganChase JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does JPMorganChase sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Directors?
Yes, JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Directors. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as finance, economics, or business. JPMorganChase participates in the H-1B lottery each April, so your petition must be registered during the March registration window for a October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Business Development Director jobs at JPMorganChase?
Applications go through JPMorganChase's careers portal, where Business Development Director roles are listed by division and location. Roles in Commercial Banking and Corporate & Investment Bank are the most relevant for this function. To find positions filtered by visa sponsorship availability, browse Migrate Mate, which surfaces JPMorganChase openings alongside the company's documented sponsorship history for this role.
Which visa types does JPMorganChase commonly use for Business Development Directors?
JPMorganChase sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for this role, but also uses the H-1B1 for Singaporean and Chilean nationals, the E-3 for Australian citizens, and immigrant petitions under the EB-2 and EB-3 categories for candidates on a Green Card track. The E-3 and H-1B1 routes avoid the H-1B lottery, which can meaningfully accelerate the timeline for eligible candidates.
What qualifications does JPMorganChase expect for a sponsored Business Development Director?
JPMorganChase typically requires a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a closely related field for Business Development Director roles. Relevant experience in financial services, corporate banking, or institutional client management is expected at the director level. For USCIS specialty occupation approval, your degree must demonstrably relate to the specific duties of the role, not just business in general.
How do I navigate the visa filing timeline after receiving a JPMorganChase offer?
Once you accept an offer, JPMorganChase's immigration counsel will initiate the Labor Condition Application with the DOL, which takes approximately seven business days to certify. For H-1B filings, your employer registers in March for an October 1 start. If you're on OPT or a Cap-Gap extension, confirm your authorization expiry date with HR immediately so the filing window aligns with your current status.
