Earn a CPA or pursue it actively
Deloitte expects Tax Accountant candidates to be CPA-licensed or actively progressing toward it. Sitting for the exam before applying signals commitment and removes a common objection hiring managers raise when weighing sponsorship costs against candidate readiness.
Target service lines that match your background
Deloitte's tax practice spans international tax, transfer pricing, M&A tax, and state and local tax. Applying to the service line that matches your prior experience sharpens your candidacy and reduces the employer's uncertainty when deciding whether to initiate a sponsorship filing.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Tax Accountant roles
Deloitte posts Tax Accountant openings across dozens of offices simultaneously, making it hard to track which positions are actively sponsoring. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type and location so you're applying to verified sponsorship-eligible openings from the start.
Clarify your visa status before the offer stage
Bring up your need for sponsorship during the recruiter screen, not after an offer is extended. Deloitte's talent acquisition team routes sponsorship decisions through a centralized immigration team, so early disclosure prevents last-minute complications that can derail an otherwise complete hiring process.
Understand how PERM affects your long-term timeline
If you're pursuing a Green Card through Deloitte, the PERM labor certification process requires your role to be tested against the U.S. labor market before DOL approves sponsorship. For Tax Accountants, this typically begins after you've established performance history with the firm.
Confirm E-3 eligibility before accepting an H-1B path
Australian citizens qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and can be processed directly at a U.S. consulate. If you hold Australian citizenship, confirm with Deloitte's immigration team that your offer is filed under E-3, since the processing timeline is significantly shorter than H-1B cap-subject petitions.

Does Deloitte sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Accountants?
Yes, Deloitte sponsors H-1B visas for Tax Accountants. The firm has a dedicated immigration team that handles petition filings for qualifying hires. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are subject to the annual lottery in April, timing your offer and onboarding around the USCIS registration window is essential. Cap-exempt filings may apply in limited circumstances depending on your prior H-1B history.
How do I apply for Tax Accountant jobs at Deloitte?
Applications go through Deloitte's careers portal, but roles are posted across many service lines and office locations simultaneously, which makes it difficult to identify which positions actively support sponsorship. Migrate Mate filters Deloitte's Tax Accountant openings by visa type, so you can focus your applications on roles where sponsorship is confirmed before you invest time in the process.
Which visa types does Deloitte commonly use for Tax Accountant roles?
Deloitte sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Tax Accountants depending on your nationality. Australian citizens are typically processed under the E-3, while Chilean and Singaporean nationals may qualify for the H-1B1. For permanent residency, Deloitte sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, usually initiated after you've built tenure in the role.
What qualifications does Deloitte expect for Tax Accountant roles?
Deloitte typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with CPA licensure or active candidacy strongly preferred. For senior-level Tax Accountant positions, prior experience in public accounting or a Big Four environment carries significant weight. Familiarity with U.S. federal and state tax compliance frameworks is expected across most service lines and office locations.
How does the sponsorship process typically unfold after receiving an offer?
Once an offer is accepted, Deloitte's immigration team engages an outside counsel to prepare your petition. For H-1B cap-subject filings, USCIS requires registration in March with a lottery determination in April and a filing window from April onward for an October 1 start date. The 60-day grace period between jobs gives you a buffer if you're transitioning from another employer while the petition is pending.
