Position Overview
The Lean Rapid Continuous Improvement Specialist is a hands-on, individual contributor responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. This role partners closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and site leadership to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and improve overall performance in the production of steel components and solar tracker systems.
The Lean Engineer II serves as a subject matter expert in Lean methodologies, leading rapid improvement efforts that directly impact safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role operates with a high level of independence and influence, without primary responsibility for formal people management.
Key Responsibilities
Continuous Improvement & Lean Execution
- Lead rapid continuous improvement (RCI) initiatives focused on productivity, throughput, waste reduction, and cost savings
- Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities across steel fabrication, stamping, assembly, and production workflows
- Apply Lean methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, 3P, Value Stream Mapping, DFM, SMED, TPM, standard work) to drive measurable results
- Facilitate Rapid Continuous Improvement events and rapid improvement workshops across the manufacturing site (12-24 per year minimum)
- Train all production management and production personnel on lean principles using interactive training events
Operational Optimization
- Analyze production data, KPIs, and process performance to identify inefficiencies and drive improvement actions
- Develop new counterbalancing KPIs to link production, scrap, quality, safety, and attendance. Then work with IT to implement an incentive system that drives universal performance of these KPIs
- Develop and implement solutions to reduce scrap, improve cycle times, and optimize equipment utilization
- Support flow optimization, line balancing, and layout improvements within production environments
- Partner with operations to improve material flow and reduce bottlenecks across the value stream
Value Stream & Process Design
- Conduct value stream mapping to identify current state gaps and design future state workflows
- Establish and maintain standard work and process documentation to ensure repeatability and consistency
- Support new product introductions and production scaling from a process optimization standpoint
Cross-Functional Influence
- Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering teams to drive aligned improvement initiatives
- Influence operational decision-making through data-driven insights and continuous improvement practices
- Serve as a key liaison between leadership and production teams on improvement priorities
Training & Culture Development
- Train and coach supervisors, operators, and site leaders on Lean principles and continuous improvement tools
- Promote a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement across the site
- Support development of daily management systems and visual management tools
Performance Measurement & Reporting
- Define, track, and report KPIs related to operational efficiency, waste reduction, and productivity
- Monitor progress of improvement initiatives and ensure sustainability of results
- Provide regular updates to site leadership on performance and impact
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field or equivalent Lean experience
- 5–10+ years of experience in Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or operations within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience leading Kaizen events and implementing Lean methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable improvements
- Experience working in hands-on steel manufacturing environments (steel, fabrication, high-volume production preferred)
- AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience
- Must have experience in steel manufacturing such as stamping, rollforming, tube mills, slitting, or steel mills
Preferred
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred)
- Experience in steel fabrication, stamping, or solar / renewable manufacturing environments
- Experience with ERP systems and production data analytics
- Strong facilitation and influence skills across cross-functional teams
- Machine design experience
- Stamping experience
Working Conditions
- Primarily based on the manufacturing floor with direct engagement in production processes
- Requires hands-on involvement in operations, equipment, and workflow optimization
- May require extended hours or off-shift support during major improvement events
Summary
The Lean / RCI Specialist plays a critical role in driving operational excellence across manufacturing operations. This position is ideal for a highly motivated, hands-on professional who thrives in dynamic production environments and is passionate about improving performance through Lean principles and continuous improvement.

Target engineering and technical roles
Array Technologies' core business is solar tracking hardware and software, so sponsorship activity tends to concentrate in engineering disciplines. Focusing your application on roles aligned with their product development and systems work gives you the best positioning.
Understand the H-1B process before applying
Array Technologies sponsors H-1B visas, so timing matters. H-1B cap season runs October through March. If you need a new cap-subject petition, plan your job search around that window to avoid missing the annual lottery registration.
Highlight renewable energy domain knowledge
Array Technologies works specifically in utility-scale solar, not energy broadly. Candidates who demonstrate familiarity with solar tracker systems, PV projects, or grid-scale deployment stand out from generalist applicants competing for the same sponsored roles.
Search for verified sponsoring employers before applying
Not every job posting discloses sponsorship willingness upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time you'd otherwise waste applying to companies that won't support your visa.
Prepare for a company-specific interview process
Array Technologies operates in a specialized niche. Research their flagship NX Horizon tracker product and recent project deployments before interviewing. Demonstrating genuine industry knowledge signals you're a serious candidate, not just visa-hunting broadly.
Be upfront about your visa status early
With a selective sponsorship track record, Array Technologies makes deliberate hiring decisions around immigration. Raising your visa needs early in conversations helps both sides avoid wasted effort and signals professionalism rather than a last-minute complication.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Array Technologies sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Array Technologies sponsors H-1B visas. The company has filed H-1B petitions for skilled workers in technical roles tied to its solar tracker business. While it is not among the highest-volume sponsors in the renewable energy sector, it has a documented history of supporting international hires who meet its specialized engineering needs.
What types of roles at Array Technologies are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Array Technologies tends to follow technical headcount. Engineering roles in mechanical, electrical, software, and systems disciplines are the most plausible candidates, given the company's hardware and software product focus. Corporate functions like finance or operations are less likely to attract sponsorship at a company of this size and specialization.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Array Technologies?
The most reliable approach is searching on Migrate Mate, which aggregates verified sponsoring employers and lets you filter by company, visa type, and industry. Because Array Technologies operates in a niche segment of renewable energy, roles open up selectively, so setting up alerts rather than checking manually will help you catch postings quickly.
What is the typical timeline for an H-1B sponsorship process at a company like Array Technologies?
From offer to work authorization, the H-1B process generally takes several months if you are already in the U.S. in a valid status. The employer registers you in the March lottery, and if selected, files the full petition by June for an October 1 start date. Premium processing can accelerate USCIS review to roughly two to three weeks after filing, but the cap lottery itself cannot be expedited.
How do I make my application stronger when targeting Array Technologies specifically?
Tailor your resume and cover letter to the utility-scale solar industry rather than energy in general. Specific knowledge of solar tracker technology, project commissioning workflows, or grid interconnection requirements signals genuine fit. Array Technologies sponsors selectively, so demonstrating that you reduce their hiring risk with domain expertise, not just technical credentials, is what differentiates competitive candidates.
