Align Your Credentials to U.S. Standards
AutoNation's accounting roles typically require CPA eligibility or progress toward licensure. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal evaluation from NASBA or a recognized equivalency service before applying.
Target Corporate Finance Over Dealership Roles
AutoNation's corporate headquarters concentrates the accounting functions most likely to support visa sponsorship. Focus your search on roles tied to financial reporting, consolidations, or internal audit rather than dealership-level bookkeeping positions.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Sponsoring Openings
AutoNation posts Accountant roles across multiple job boards, but not all positions are open to sponsored candidates. Use Migrate Mate to surface only the AutoNation listings where sponsorship is a confirmed option for your visa type.
Clarify TN Eligibility Before Applying
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen, the TN visa covers Accountants directly under NAFTA's successor agreement. Confirm your CPA credential qualifies, since TN for accountants requires licensure, not just a relevant degree.
Prepare for a Multi-Round Interview Process
AutoNation's accounting interviews often include a technical assessment covering reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and lease accounting under ASC 842. Preparing examples from automotive or multi-entity environments strengthens your case significantly.

Find Accountant at AutoNation JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AutoNation sponsor H-1B visas for Accountants?
Yes, AutoNation has sponsored H-1B visas for Accountants. Sponsorship is more consistent for corporate accounting roles, such as financial reporting, consolidations, and audit, than for dealership-level positions. Availability depends on the specific role, the hiring manager, and your qualifications. Confirming sponsorship intent early in the process, before the formal offer stage, saves time for both you and the employer.
Which visa types are commonly used for Accountant roles at AutoNation?
H-1B is the most common visa type for Accountants at AutoNation. F-1 OPT and CPT candidates are also hired, typically earlier in the pipeline. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status, which covers Accountants directly and does not require an H-1B lottery selection. The right path depends on your citizenship, degree, and professional licensure status.
What qualifications and experience does AutoNation expect for Accountant roles?
AutoNation generally expects a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA licensure or active candidacy, and familiarity with large-entity financial processes. Experience with lease accounting, intercompany reconciliations, or automotive dealership financial statements is a differentiator. Roles at the corporate level often require proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, which are standard across AutoNation's finance infrastructure.
How do I apply for Accountant jobs at AutoNation?
You can browse open Accountant positions at AutoNation through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're not wasting time on roles that won't support your situation. When you apply, tailor your resume to reflect U.S. accounting standards and include any CPA progress. Following up with AutoNation's talent acquisition team after submitting can meaningfully improve response rates.
How do I plan the timeline for an H-1B filing with AutoNation?
H-1B registration opens in March each year, with a lottery selection in late March and petition filing by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS's cap-gap provision lets you continue working past your OPT expiration if your petition is filed and pending. Raise the sponsorship timeline with AutoNation's HR team as soon as you receive a verbal offer, since LCA filing with DOL must precede the H-1B petition itself.
