Align your credentials to healthcare IT standards
BayCare operates clinical and administrative systems under HIPAA and Joint Commission requirements. Certifications like CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure, or ITIL signal you understand regulated healthcare environments, not just general enterprise infrastructure.
Target BayCare's multi-facility infrastructure roles
BayCare supports hospitals, outpatient centers, and corporate offices across the Tampa Bay region. Apply to System Administrator postings that reference network segmentation, Active Directory, or Epic integration, as these reflect their actual operational footprint.
Clarify your OPT or CPT authorization early in conversations
If you're on F-1 status, confirm your OPT start date and STEM extension eligibility before your first recruiter call. Healthcare employers with E-Verify enrollment, including BayCare, are authorized to onboard STEM OPT workers for the full 24-month extension period.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open System Administrator roles
BayCare posts across multiple job boards, and sponsorship-eligible roles aren't always labeled. Use Migrate Mate to filter BayCare System Administrator openings by visa type so you're only applying to positions where sponsorship is actively on the table.
Understand BayCare's H-1B filing calendar before negotiating a start date
USCIS H-1B cap-subject petitions open each April for an October 1 start. If BayCare extends an offer outside that window, ask whether they'll file cap-exempt or use premium processing to bridge your start date without a status gap.
Request clarity on PERM sponsorship timelines during the offer stage
BayCare sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process, which DOL currently processes over many months. Ask your recruiter at the offer stage whether the role is designated for permanent residence sponsorship and what the typical internal timeline looks like.

Find System Administrator at BayCare Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BayCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for System Administrators?
Yes, BayCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for System Administrator roles. As a large nonprofit health system, BayCare has the legal and administrative infrastructure to file cap-subject H-1B petitions through USCIS. If you're in the H-1B lottery pool, BayCare can file on your behalf once selected. Roles requiring specialized healthcare IT knowledge, such as Epic system administration or network security in a clinical environment, tend to align well with H-1B specialty occupation criteria.
Which visa types does BayCare Health System commonly use for System Administrator roles?
BayCare sponsors several visa categories for System Administrator positions, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Cards. The right visa depends on your nationality, current status, and career stage. H-1B and TN are the most common paths for candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field.
What qualifications does BayCare Health System expect from System Administrator candidates?
BayCare typically looks for a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field, combined with hands-on experience managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, virtualization platforms like VMware, and enterprise networking. Familiarity with HIPAA security requirements and experience supporting clinical applications such as Epic or similar EHR systems is a practical advantage, given BayCare's scale across acute care and ambulatory settings throughout the Tampa Bay region.
How do I apply for System Administrator jobs at BayCare Health System?
You can search and apply for System Administrator openings directly through BayCare's careers portal, or use Migrate Mate to filter BayCare roles by visa sponsorship type so you only spend time on positions where your immigration status is supported. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect healthcare IT experience and any relevant certifications. If you're on OPT or H-1B, clearly state your work authorization status and expected expiration date in your application or cover letter to streamline the recruiter screening process.
How do I navigate the sponsorship timeline after receiving an offer from BayCare?
Once BayCare extends an offer, their HR or immigration team will initiate the appropriate visa petition through USCIS. For H-1B, cap-subject filings require lottery selection in April for an October 1 start, so timing your offer relative to that window matters. For TN status, the process moves faster and doesn't require USCIS approval. If BayCare is filing an EB-2 or EB-3 petition, the PERM labor certification through DOL adds significant processing time, so it's worth clarifying internal sponsorship commitments before accepting.
