Tips for Finding Physics Jobs at BayCare Health System
Align your credentials with ABR certification expectations
BayCare's medical physics roles in radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging typically expect American Board of Radiology eligibility or certification. Confirm your credentials map to ABR requirements before applying, since gaps here stall offers even for qualified international candidates.
Target open requisitions across multiple BayCare facilities
BayCare operates hospitals and cancer centers throughout Tampa Bay, and physics openings are spread across those sites. Searching by location within the BayCare careers portal surfaces roles that centralized job boards often miss, giving you a broader set of sponsorship-eligible positions to pursue.
Clarify visa category fit before your final interview
Physics roles at BayCare can qualify under H-1B, TN, or J-1 depending on your nationality and training stage. Ask HR which category they're filing under for your specific position so you're not caught off guard if your situation requires a different pathway than expected.
Use Migrate Mate to filter BayCare physics openings by visa type
BayCare lists physics jobs across multiple specialties, and not every posting signals sponsorship equally. Migrate Mate lets you filter BayCare roles by sponsored visa category, so you spend time only on positions that match your immigration status.
Request LCA filing confirmation before accepting an offer
For H-1B sponsorship, BayCare's HR must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS can process your petition. Confirm LCA filing is underway as part of your offer acceptance process, since this step sets the legally required prevailing wage and worksite details.
Account for J-1 waiver timelines if you're completing a residency
Medical physicists finishing J-1-funded training programs must obtain a waiver of the two-year home residency requirement before BayCare can sponsor an H-1B. Conrad 30 waivers through Florida typically take several months, so start that process well before your program end date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does BayCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Physicists?
Yes, BayCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for qualified physics professionals. Medical physics roles in areas like radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging generally meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B eligibility. BayCare's HR team coordinates the Labor Condition Application with DOL and the I-129 petition with USCIS, so you'll want to confirm sponsorship intent early in the interview process.
How do I apply for Physics jobs at BayCare Health System?
Search BayCare's careers portal directly and filter by department or keyword for physics-related roles. You can also browse BayCare's physics openings on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify which positions align with your immigration status before applying. Tailor your application to highlight clinical physics experience and any ABR board eligibility.
Which visa types does BayCare Health System commonly use for Physics roles?
BayCare sponsors H-1B visas for most permanent physics hires, particularly in medical physics and radiation oncology. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying physics occupations. J-1 visas appear for residency and fellowship positions, while F-1 OPT and CPT can support early-career physicists in training roles. Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 is also part of BayCare's longer-term hiring pathway.
What qualifications does BayCare Health System expect for Physics positions?
Most clinical physics roles at BayCare require a master's degree or doctorate in medical physics or a closely related field. American Board of Radiology eligibility or certification is a strong differentiator, particularly for radiation oncology positions. Hands-on clinical experience with treatment planning systems, linear accelerators, or imaging equipment is typically expected, and residency training significantly strengthens your candidacy.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Physics role at BayCare?
Timeline depends on visa category. H-1B standard processing through USCIS runs six to eight months from petition filing, though premium processing can reduce that to two to three weeks for an additional fee. TN visa processing at the border or consulate is much faster, often same-day or within a few weeks. If you need a J-1 waiver before transitioning to H-1B, build in several additional months for that step.
