Frame your credentials for healthcare administration
BayCare's Administrative Assistant roles often require familiarity with medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and electronic health record systems. Tailor your resume to highlight any exposure to healthcare settings, even in administrative or clerical capacities, before applying.
Research open roles across BayCare's facility network
BayCare operates hospitals, imaging centers, and outpatient clinics across Hillsborough, Pinellas, and surrounding counties. Administrative openings vary by facility, so search by location and department to find roles that align with your experience and sponsorship timeline.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility during initial HR screening
BayCare's HR team handles sponsorship decisions centrally. Ask directly during the phone screen whether the specific role has been approved for visa sponsorship, since not every Administrative Assistant position at every facility carries the same authorization.
Confirm your OPT or CPT authorization covers the start date
If you're on F-1 OPT, verify that your Employment Authorization Document is valid through your proposed start date. USCIS requires the EAD to be active before you begin work, and healthcare employers like BayCare use E-Verify to confirm authorization on day one.
Track BayCare's sponsorship history before your interview
Use Migrate Mate to review BayCare's past visa sponsorship activity for administrative roles. This lets you walk into interviews with a grounded understanding of which visa pathways the organization has supported, strengthening your negotiating position.
Build your H-1B timeline around BayCare's offer process
If you need H-1B sponsorship, count backward from the April 1 USCIS filing window. BayCare needs time to file a Labor Condition Application with DOL and prepare the I-129 petition, so aim to have a signed offer letter no later than late January.

Does BayCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Administrative Assistants?
BayCare Health System does sponsor H-1B visas, and Administrative Assistant roles have been included among the positions supported. Sponsorship decisions are made by BayCare's central HR team and depend on the specific role, facility, and business need at the time of hiring. Confirming sponsorship eligibility for the exact position you're applying to is an important early step in the process.
How do I apply for Administrative Assistant jobs at BayCare Health System?
Applications are submitted through BayCare's careers portal, where you can filter by job category and location across its Tampa Bay facilities. Migrate Mate also aggregates BayCare's open Administrative Assistant roles in one place, making it easier to identify sponsorship-friendly postings without searching each facility individually. After applying online, HR typically conducts an initial phone screen before scheduling in-person or virtual interviews.
Which visa types does BayCare Health System commonly use for Administrative Assistant roles?
BayCare has sponsored H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT workers, and has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways. For Administrative Assistant positions, H-1B and F-1 OPT are the most common entry points. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible professional categories, though Administrative Assistant roles require careful review of TN qualifying criteria.
What qualifications does BayCare Health System expect for Administrative Assistant candidates?
BayCare typically looks for candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent at a minimum, though an associate or bachelor's degree strengthens your application. Proficiency in scheduling software, Microsoft Office, and medical record systems is frequently listed in job descriptions. Prior experience in a healthcare or clinical setting, even in a support capacity, is a meaningful differentiator given BayCare's patient-facing operations.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining BayCare as an Administrative Assistant?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization should already be in place before your start date. H-1B sponsorship requires filing with USCIS during the annual April window, meaning you'd typically start no earlier than October 1 of that year. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for EB-2 or EB-3 categories involves DOL labor market testing and can take one to three years or longer depending on your country of birth.
