Verify Your Nursing License Before Applying
Florida requires RN licensure through the Florida Board of Nursing before BayCare can move forward with any visa filing. Start the NCLEX or endorsement process early since credential evaluation and state approval can take several months to clear.
Target BayCare's School-Based Health Partnerships
BayCare operates school health programs tied to Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco County school districts. Applying specifically to openings linked to these partnerships puts you in front of hiring managers who fill these roles on recurring, predictable timelines throughout the academic year.
Understand How BayCare Files H-1B Petitions for Nurses
School Nurse roles at BayCare must qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, meaning a bachelor's degree in nursing or a directly related field is required. A general associate-level RN credential alone may not satisfy this threshold, so confirm your degree level before the employer submits Form I-129.
Use Migrate Mate to Track BayCare's Open Roles
School Nurse openings at BayCare rotate frequently as the academic calendar shifts. Use Migrate Mate to filter BayCare's current listings by visa type so you can act quickly when a sponsorship-eligible opening appears rather than discovering it after the position is filled.
Ask About EB-2 or EB-3 Timelines During Offer Negotiations
If you're planning long-term, ask BayCare's HR team early whether they initiate PERM-based green card sponsorship concurrent with H-1B approval. For nurses from high-demand countries, EB-3 backlogs mean the earlier the priority date is established, the better your long-term status outlook.
Align Your J-1 or OPT End Date With BayCare's Hiring Cycle
BayCare's school nurse hiring peaks in spring ahead of the August school year start. If your OPT or J-1 status expires mid-year, flag this during interviews so BayCare's immigration team can confirm a cap-subject H-1B petition or timely extension filing before your work authorization lapses.

Find School Nurse at BayCare Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BayCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for School Nurses?
Yes, BayCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for School Nurse roles, provided the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria. That means the role must typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing or a closely related field. An associate-level credential alone may not meet the specialty occupation threshold, so confirm your educational background aligns before pursuing this pathway.
How do I apply for School Nurse jobs at BayCare Health System?
Applications go through BayCare's careers portal on their official website, where you can filter by job category and location across their Tampa Bay facilities. Migrate Mate also aggregates BayCare's open School Nurse positions and lets you filter specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, which makes it easier to identify the right openings without sifting through listings manually.
Which visa types does BayCare Health System commonly use for School Nurse roles?
BayCare sponsors across several visa categories for nursing roles, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nurses, F-1 OPT and CPT for students finishing nursing programs in the U.S., J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and current immigration status.
What qualifications does BayCare Health System expect for sponsored School Nurse positions?
BayCare typically requires active Florida RN licensure, a bachelor's degree in nursing for H-1B sponsorship eligibility, and relevant clinical or school health experience. Pediatric or community health backgrounds are particularly relevant given BayCare's school-based programs. BCLS certification and familiarity with electronic health records are standard expectations across their nursing roles.
How do I estimate the timeline from application to starting work at BayCare as a sponsored School Nurse?
The process depends heavily on your current visa status. If you're already in the U.S. on OPT, a status change can move faster than consular processing from abroad. H-1B cap filings follow USCIS's April lottery and October 1 start date, meaning you'd need to apply months in advance. For EB-3 Green Card routes through PERM, DOL processing alone can take a year or more before USCIS adjudication begins.
