Certify your credentials before applying
BayCare expects Medical Assistant candidates to hold a recognized certification such as CMA (AAMA) or RMA. If your credentials were issued outside the U.S., get them evaluated by a NACES-approved body before your first interview so credentialing delays don't stall the filing process.
Target BayCare's outpatient clinic openings
BayCare operates a large network of outpatient facilities with consistently high Medical Assistant turnover. Roles in ambulatory and primary care settings tend to move faster through hiring than inpatient hospital positions, which can shorten the time between offer and visa filing initiation.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility during the offer stage
Ask the recruiter directly which visa types BayCare's immigration counsel supports for Medical Assistant hires. The answer affects whether you pursue H-1B, TN, or an immigrant pathway, and it tells you whether you need to time your application around the April H-1B registration window.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Medical Assistant roles by sponsorship type
BayCare posts Medical Assistant openings across multiple job boards, but not all listings flag visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to search BayCare's verified sponsoring roles and filter by your specific visa type so you're only applying to positions where your work authorization is already in scope.
Understand how J-1 clinical placements differ from direct hire
BayCare participates in J-1 exchange programs, but J-1 Medical Assistants typically work under a sponsoring exchange organization, not BayCare directly. If you want BayCare as your direct employer of record for H-1B or EB-3 purposes, apply through their standard recruitment pipeline, not through an exchange program.
Prepare your PERM documentation early for immigrant visa paths
If BayCare offers EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, the PERM labor certification process requires documenting that no qualified U.S. worker was available. Gathering your employment history, foreign degree evaluations, and licensure records before the offer stage means BayCare's counsel can file without delays once recruitment is complete.

Find Medical Assistant at BayCare Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BayCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
Yes, BayCare Health System has sponsored H-1B visas for healthcare roles including Medical Assistants. Because H-1B requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, BayCare's immigration counsel will assess whether your specific role and educational background meet USCIS criteria. Confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter during the offer stage, and note the April registration window if you're subject to the annual cap.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at BayCare Health System?
Applications go through BayCare's careers portal at baycare.org/careers. Search for Medical Assistant openings by location across their Tampa Bay facilities. You can also find BayCare's verified sponsoring Medical Assistant roles on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm work authorization eligibility before investing time in the application.
Which visa types does BayCare Health System commonly use for Medical Assistant hires?
BayCare has sponsored H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT work authorizations, as well as immigrant pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. For Medical Assistants, TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials, while EB-3 is often the practical immigrant visa route given that the role typically requires a certificate or associate degree rather than a bachelor's.
What qualifications does BayCare Health System expect for Medical Assistant candidates seeking sponsorship?
BayCare typically requires a Medical Assistant certificate or diploma from an accredited program and a current CMA or RMA certification. Clinical experience in a physician's office, outpatient clinic, or hospital setting strengthens your application significantly. If your training was completed outside the U.S., a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved organization helps BayCare's HR team and immigration counsel verify equivalency quickly.
How do I estimate the timeline from job offer to start date when BayCare is sponsoring my visa?
Timeline depends heavily on which visa BayCare files. F-1 OPT can authorize work within 90 days if your EAD is already approved. TN status for Canadian nationals can be granted at the border on the same day. H-1B standard processing runs three to six months; premium processing through USCIS cuts that to 15 business days. EB-3 PERM and immigrant visa filing typically takes one to three years before you receive a Green Card.
