Verify your credentials meet Massachusetts requirements
Boston Medical Center operates in a state that recognizes both certified and registered Medical Assistants. Holding a CMA (AAMA) or RMA credential before applying signals clinical readiness and strengthens your case when BMC evaluates foreign-trained candidates for sponsorship.
Target BMC's high-volume clinical departments first
BMC consistently posts Medical Assistant openings across primary care, specialty clinics, and community health centers. Applying to departments with active patient volume gives you better odds than waiting for a single posting, since sponsorship decisions often follow urgent staffing needs.
Clarify sponsorship intent early in recruiter conversations
BMC's HR team handles sponsorship through formal internal processes, so surface your visa situation before the offer stage. Asking whether the role is open to candidates requiring H-1B sponsorship during the phone screen avoids late-stage surprises and saves both sides time.
Understand how H-1B timing affects your start date
If you're not currently on a work-authorized status, an H-1B filing for a Medical Assistant role must align with USCIS's April registration window and October 1 start date. Factor this into your job search timeline so BMC can plan the hire accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Medical Assistant openings at BMC
Tracking which BMC locations are actively hiring Medical Assistants with sponsorship can be time-consuming. Migrate Mate filters sponsor-verified job listings so you can focus your applications on open roles at institutions like BMC with documented sponsorship activity.
Prepare for PERM labor market requirements if targeting Green Card
BMC sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for some Medical Assistant roles, which requires a DOL PERM filing. Understand that your employer must demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers were available, so your credentials and specialized clinical experience need to be clearly documented from day one.

Find Medical Assistant at Boston Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
Yes, Boston Medical Center has sponsored H-1B visas for Medical Assistant roles. BMC is a large academic medical center with an established immigration support process, and Medical Assistant positions at sufficient specialty or complexity level can qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards. Confirming sponsorship availability for a specific posting directly with BMC's HR or talent acquisition team is advisable before applying.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at Boston Medical Center?
Applications go through BMC's careers portal at bostonmedicalcenter.org. Search for Medical Assistant roles by department or location, and submit your resume along with any relevant certifications such as a CMA or RMA credential. If you need visa sponsorship, flag that in your application or early in the recruiter screening call. You can also browse verified openings through Migrate Mate to identify active listings with sponsorship potential.
Which visa types does Boston Medical Center use to sponsor Medical Assistants?
Boston Medical Center sponsors both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa categories for Medical Assistant roles. The H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant pathway, subject to the annual USCIS cap and lottery. For longer-term pathways, BMC has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through DOL PERM labor certification for qualifying employees, making it one of the more comprehensive sponsoring employers in the healthcare sector.
What qualifications does Boston Medical Center expect from Medical Assistant candidates?
BMC typically looks for candidates with a Medical Assistant diploma or associate's degree from an accredited program, along with a professional certification such as the CMA from the AAMA or the RMA from the AMT. Clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting strengthens your application. For foreign-trained candidates, having credentials evaluated for U.S. equivalency before applying can remove friction during the hiring and sponsorship review process.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Medical Assistant role at Boston Medical Center?
Timeline depends on visa type. For an H-1B, standard USCIS processing runs several months, and the annual cap means the earliest possible start date tied to a new H-1B is October 1 of the fiscal year following the April lottery. For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, the DOL PERM process alone can take a year or more before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition, so early conversations with BMC about long-term sponsorship intent matter.
