Certify your credentials before applying
Quest Diagnostics expects Medical Assistants to hold a recognized certification such as CMA or RMA before sponsorship conversations begin. Having your credential verified and ready signals you're hire-ready, not a future project.
Target patient service center openings specifically
Quest's sponsorship activity for Medical Assistants concentrates in its patient service center network, not corporate or lab-only roles. Filter your search to PSC-listed positions, where phlebotomy and clinical support duties align with the visa-eligible specialty occupation definition.
Use OPT to get your foot in the door
F-1 OPT gives you up to 12 months of work authorization, and STEM OPT extensions don't apply here. Starting on OPT lets Quest evaluate you before committing to H-1B sponsorship, which is the most common transition path for international Medical Assistants in this industry.
Clarify sponsorship intent during the offer stage
Don't wait for onboarding to ask about visa support. When you receive an offer for a Medical Assistant role, ask directly whether the position is designated as sponsorship-eligible and which immigration counsel Quest's HR team uses for the filing process.
Understand how PERM affects your Green Card timeline
EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for Medical Assistants requires PERM labor certification through DOL, which can take a year or more before USCIS even sees your petition. Factor that timeline into your visa status planning early.
Find open Medical Assistant roles on Migrate Mate
Searching broadly wastes time on roles with no sponsorship history. Use Migrate Mate to filter Quest Diagnostics Medical Assistant openings by visa type so you're only applying to positions where sponsorship has been used for this exact role.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Quest Diagnostics sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
Yes, Quest Diagnostics sponsors H-1B visas for Medical Assistant roles. Sponsorship is most common for candidates who have already demonstrated performance at Quest, often transitioning from F-1 OPT. Because the H-1B requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, your application should emphasize clinical credentialing and the degree-level requirements tied to the role.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at Quest Diagnostics?
Apply through Quest Diagnostics' careers portal, filtering by Medical Assistant and your preferred location. Listings that include visa sponsorship language are the ones worth prioritizing. You can also browse verified sponsorship-eligible openings at Quest on Migrate Mate, which surfaces only roles where international candidates have a realistic path to work authorization.
Which visa types does Quest Diagnostics commonly use for Medical Assistant roles?
Quest sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, EB-2, and EB-3 for Medical Assistant positions. F-1 OPT is the most accessible entry point for recent graduates. TN visa works for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying clinical roles. EB-2 and EB-3 are used for candidates pursuing permanent residence, requiring PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does Quest Diagnostics expect for Medical Assistant roles?
Quest typically requires a formal Medical Assistant diploma or associate degree from an accredited program, plus a recognized certification such as CMA, RMA, or CCMA. Phlebotomy competency is expected for most patient service center roles. Prior clinical externship hours and Electronic Health Record experience strengthen your candidacy, particularly when sponsorship is involved and Quest needs to demonstrate the position requires specialized qualifications.
How do I time my visa application around a Medical Assistant offer from Quest?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date before your start date so there's no gap in authorization. For H-1B cap-subject petitions, Quest must file by April 1 for an October 1 start, meaning offers often need to be in place several months earlier. TN status can be obtained at the border for eligible nationals and doesn't require advance USCIS filing, making it a faster option for qualifying candidates.
