Get your credentials evaluated before applying
Foreign medical or nursing degrees often require evaluation through a recognized credentialing body before Boston Medical Center's HR team can assess your application. Have your evaluation completed and ready before you submit, not after you receive an offer.
Target roles tied to specialty departments
Boston Medical Center's sponsorship activity concentrates in specialized clinical and research functions. Focus your search on departments like internal medicine, psychiatry, and surgery, where the institution's patient population and research mission drive consistent hiring of internationally trained professionals.
Clarify licensure status before your interview
Massachusetts requires active state licensure for most clinical roles. If your license is pending or conditional, raise that timeline proactively in your interview. Employers at large academic medical centers factor licensure timing directly into their H-1B filing window calculations.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Boston Medical Center roles
Boston Medical Center posts a high volume of healthcare openings across departments. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at this employer that align with your specialty, so you're targeting positions where sponsorship is a realistic part of the hiring conversation.
Understand how PERM fits your long-term plan
If your goal is permanent residence, ask during the offer stage whether the role supports an EB-2 or EB-3 PERM sponsorship track. Large hospital systems vary on when they initiate PERM, and knowing Boston Medical Center's typical timeline helps you plan your status transitions without gaps.
Time your application around the H-1B cap cycle
For cap-subject H-1B roles, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. If you're finishing a residency, fellowship, or OPT period, align your application timeline with this window to avoid a gap between your current work authorization and your H-1B approval.

Find Healthcare at Boston Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Boston Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, Boston Medical Center sponsors H-1B visas for healthcare roles. As a large academic medical center, it has an established process for supporting international candidates through the H-1B petition filing process. Clinical and research positions are the most common sponsorship pathways, though the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at Boston Medical Center?
Applications go through Boston Medical Center's careers portal, where roles are listed by department and function. You can also browse open healthcare positions at Boston Medical Center filtered for visa sponsorship eligibility through Migrate Mate, which narrows the list to roles relevant to international candidates. Tailor your application materials to the specific clinical or administrative function of the role.
Which visa types does Boston Medical Center commonly use for Healthcare roles?
Boston Medical Center most commonly sponsors H-1B visas for healthcare professionals in specialty occupation roles, including clinical, research, and technical positions. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories are used depending on the role's requirements and the candidate's qualifications. J-1 waivers may also apply for physicians completing their training obligation.
What qualifications does Boston Medical Center expect for Healthcare roles?
Expectations vary by department, but clinical roles typically require a relevant degree, active or pending Massachusetts licensure, and demonstrated experience in the applicable specialty. Research and technical healthcare roles may prioritize advanced degrees or lab-specific credentials. For sponsored positions, your degree must directly relate to the job duties to satisfy the H-1B specialty occupation requirement under USCIS guidelines.
How do I know if my timeline works for an H-1B filing at Boston Medical Center?
If you're on OPT or completing a training program, map your authorization end date against the H-1B cap cycle. USCIS registration typically runs in March, with approvals effective October 1. If your current status expires before October 1, you may need a cap-exempt employer or a gap bridge strategy. Discuss your specific end dates with the hiring team early in the offer process.
