Does Bucknell University sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Bucknell University sponsors H-1B visas and has a consistent track record of doing so, particularly for faculty, researchers, and specialized professional staff. The university processes H-1B petitions through its HR and international services offices. If you're applying for a role, it's worth confirming sponsorship eligibility directly with HR, as not every position qualifies.
What visa types does Bucknell University sponsor?
Bucknell University sponsors several visa categories, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. The university also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students, making it accessible at multiple stages of an international candidate's career.
Which departments or roles at Bucknell University are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Academic departments, research centers, and certain administrative units with specialized skill requirements are the most common sources of sponsored roles at Bucknell. Faculty positions across engineering, sciences, and the humanities have historically been strong areas, as have research-oriented staff roles. Roles requiring a specific advanced degree in a defined field are best positioned for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship.
How do I find visa-sponsored jobs at Bucknell University?
The most reliable approach is to search for Bucknell University openings on Migrate Mate, which tracks verified sponsorship history so you can confirm the university actively sponsors before applying. You can also monitor Bucknell's official careers page directly and filter for roles that explicitly mention visa sponsorship or international hiring support in the position description.
How do I approach the application timeline when targeting Bucknell University for H-1B sponsorship?
Academic hiring cycles at Bucknell often run six to twelve months ahead of a start date, which matters if your H-1B requires the annual April lottery. Aim to have an offer in hand by late fall or early winter to give HR enough lead time to file before the March registration window. If you're already on OPT or another status, cap-exempt or change-of-status options may offer more flexibility.
