Align your credentials to CDW's engineering scope
CDW's mechanical engineering work centers on hardware systems, thermal management, and data center infrastructure. Tailor your resume to highlight experience in these areas rather than traditional manufacturing, so your background maps directly to their technology-facing engineering roles.
Search DOL disclosure data before applying
CDW files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL for sponsored roles. Searching OFLC disclosure data by employer name and job title confirms which Mechanical Engineer positions have active sponsorship history, helping you prioritize roles with a documented track record.
Clarify sponsorship scope during your first interview
CDW sponsors multiple visa categories for engineering talent. Ask the recruiter early whether your specific visa type is covered for that role, since sponsorship availability can vary by business unit and whether the team has budget for premium processing.
Time your application around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date. Factor this into your job search timeline so you're in active interviews by late January, giving CDW's HR team enough lead time to register you.
Use Migrate Mate to find current CDW openings
CDW's Mechanical Engineer postings don't always specify visa sponsorship in the job listing itself. Use Migrate Mate to filter CDW roles by visa type so you're only investing time in applications where your sponsorship needs are already matched.
Prepare a PERM-ready employment history before your offer
CDW sponsors Green Card pathways through PERM-based EB-2 and EB-3 petitions. Have clean documentation of every employer, job title, and date from your work history ready, since gaps or inconsistencies in DOL audit responses can significantly delay your PERM filing.

Find Mechanical Engineer at CDW JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CDW sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, CDW sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineer roles. CDW operates as a large employer in the technology solutions sector and has an established process for supporting engineering hires through H-1B petitions. If you're approaching the H-1B cap registration window in March, confirm with CDW's recruiting team that your target role is included in their sponsorship cycle before the USCIS deadline.
What visa types does CDW sponsor for Mechanical Engineer roles?
CDW sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Mechanical Engineer positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common starting points for recent graduates before transitioning to H-1B. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican engineers in qualifying specialties. Green Card sponsorship typically follows a period of employment and is employer-initiated through a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL.
What qualifications does CDW look for in Mechanical Engineer candidates?
CDW's mechanical engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B purposes. Relevant experience in hardware systems, thermal analysis, or data center infrastructure strengthens your application. CDW sits in the technology solutions space, so candidates who can bridge traditional mechanical engineering principles with enterprise IT environments stand out.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at CDW?
You can find and apply for Mechanical Engineer roles at CDW through Migrate Mate, which filters CDW's open positions by visa sponsorship type so you only see roles aligned with your immigration needs. When you apply, tailor your materials to CDW's technology infrastructure focus rather than submitting a generalist engineering resume. Reach out to CDW's talent acquisition team directly after applying to confirm sponsorship availability for your specific visa category.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a CDW Mechanical Engineer offer?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B sponsorship follows a fixed USCIS schedule with an October 1 start date, so your offer and registration need to align with the March registration window. OPT employment can begin immediately if your EAD is valid. For Green Card sponsorship via PERM, expect a multi-year process that begins after your employment start date. Premium processing is available for H-1B petitions, which cuts USCIS adjudication time to 15 business days.
