Align your credentials to CDW's technical stack
CDW supports large-scale IT infrastructure deployments, so mechanical technicians who can document hands-on experience with hardware installation, rack-and-stack configurations, or data center equipment stand out well before the interview stage.
Target CDW's distribution and integration centers
CDW's mechanical technician openings are often tied to its configuration centers, not just corporate offices. Filtering your search by facility type rather than headquarters location puts you in front of the roles most likely to carry sponsorship eligibility.
Get your OPT or CPT authorization lined up early
If you're on F-1 status, confirm your DSO has processed your OPT authorization before you accept an offer. CDW uses E-Verify, so your employment eligibility must be confirmed before your first day, not after.
Ask explicitly about H-1B or TN pathways during the offer stage
Recruiters at large technology distributors handle sponsorship through HR and legal teams, not hiring managers. When you receive an offer, ask directly which visa types the company will file, and confirm whether TN is an option if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship.
Prepare for PERM documentation if pursuing a Green Card
For EB-2 or EB-3 pathways, CDW's legal team will need detailed records of your prior employment, degree equivalency documents, and job duty descriptions. Gather these before your start date so the PERM labor certification process isn't delayed by missing paperwork.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open mechanical technician roles at CDW
Filtering by role and sponsor simultaneously saves time. Migrate Mate surfaces CDW's mechanical technician postings alongside their sponsorship history, so you can prioritize applications to positions that have a real path to visa support.

Find Mechanical Technician at CDW JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does CDW sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Technicians?
Yes, CDW sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Technician roles. Because the H-1B requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, CDW's technical roles tied to engineering-level hardware work, systems integration, or configuration management tend to be the strongest candidates. You'll want to confirm the specific role's qualification framework with CDW's HR team during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Mechanical Technician jobs at CDW?
Applications go through CDW's careers portal, but the fastest way to identify which postings are open to sponsored candidates is to use Migrate Mate, which filters CDW's Mechanical Technician listings by visa sponsorship eligibility. Once you've identified a target role, apply directly on CDW's site and be upfront about your visa status in your cover materials or recruiter outreach.
Which visa types does CDW typically use for Mechanical Technician roles?
CDW has filed across several visa categories for technical roles, including H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens and is often faster to process for qualifying technician roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications does CDW expect for Mechanical Technician positions?
CDW's Mechanical Technician roles typically require hands-on experience with hardware assembly, diagnostic testing, or IT infrastructure equipment. A degree or technical certification in mechanical engineering, electronics technology, or a closely related field strengthens your application. Familiarity with data center environments, configuration workflows, or supply chain operations is frequently referenced in CDW's job descriptions for this function.
How do I navigate the sponsorship timeline after receiving an offer from CDW?
Once you have a written offer, CDW's HR and immigration legal team will initiate the relevant petition. For H-1B, the USCIS cap registration window opens in March for an October 1 start, so timing your offer matters. TN status can be obtained at the border and doesn't follow a lottery. For PERM-based Green Card filings, expect a multi-year process starting from your first day of employment.
