Target engineering and hardware roles first
ChargePoint's core business is building and maintaining EV charging networks, so roles in electrical engineering, embedded systems, and hardware design align most naturally with their sponsorship activity. Prioritize applications in these technical verticals for the strongest shot at sponsorship.
Understand which visa types ChargePoint supports
ChargePoint sponsors H-1B, Green Card (EB-2 and EB-3), F-1 OPT, and TN visas. If you're a Canadian or Mexican national, the TN pathway is worth exploring alongside H-1B, it's faster and avoids the lottery entirely for qualifying roles.
Highlight clean energy domain expertise in your application
ChargePoint operates at the intersection of hardware, software, and sustainability. Candidates who can demonstrate hands-on experience with EV systems, charging protocols, or energy management platforms stand out and are more likely to justify the sponsorship investment.
Plan around H-1B lottery timing if that's your visa
ChargePoint has a track record of filing H-1B petitions, but the lottery runs once a year with a March registration window. Aim to secure an offer by early Q1 so your employer has enough lead time to prepare and submit your petition before the deadline.
Use F-1 OPT as a foot in the door
ChargePoint sponsors F-1 OPT, which means recent graduates can start working while the company evaluates a longer-term H-1B sponsorship. If you're on OPT, targeting ChargePoint early in your job search gives you time to build a case for transition before your OPT expires.
Search for ChargePoint openings on a platform that shows real sponsorship data
Not every job listing tells you whether a company will actually sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, browse ChargePoint's open roles there to focus your effort on positions where sponsorship is confirmed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does ChargePoint sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, ChargePoint sponsors H-1B visas. The company has an established pattern of filing H-1B petitions, particularly for technical roles in software engineering, electrical engineering, and hardware development. If you're targeting an H-1B through ChargePoint, focus your application on roles that clearly require a specialized degree, those are the positions most likely to qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules.
Which visa types does ChargePoint sponsor?
ChargePoint sponsors H-1B, EB-2, EB-3, F-1 OPT, and TN visas. This range covers both temporary work authorization and pathways to permanent residence, which is a meaningful signal of long-term sponsorship intent. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying STEM or engineering roles should explore the TN option alongside H-1B, as it avoids the lottery and can be processed faster.
What types of roles does ChargePoint typically sponsor?
ChargePoint's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical and engineering disciplines, reflecting the company's focus on EV charging hardware and software platforms. Roles in electrical engineering, firmware, cloud infrastructure, embedded systems, and software development are the most common candidates for sponsorship. Business and operations roles are less frequently sponsored but not entirely off the table depending on specialization.
How do I find currently open, visa-sponsoring roles at ChargePoint?
The most efficient way is to use Migrate Mate, which aggregates job listings from companies with verified sponsorship histories like ChargePoint. Rather than filtering through hundreds of listings with no sponsorship information, Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for ChargePoint openings where work authorization support is part of the picture, saving time and reducing uncertainty in your job search.
How do I time my application to ChargePoint to maximize my chances of H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date, which means your employer needs the registration fee paid and petition prepared by late March. Aim to have a signed offer from ChargePoint by January or February at the latest. Starting the process earlier also gives both parties time to gather supporting documentation and align on job description language that meets USCIS specialty occupation standards.
