Align your resume to solution selling
Cognizant's Sales roles center on selling IT services and digital transformation solutions to enterprise clients. Frame your experience around complex B2B sales cycles, stakeholder management, and revenue targets rather than transactional or retail sales backgrounds.
Verify your visa category before applying
Cognizant sponsors both H-1B and E-3 visas for Sales roles. If you're Australian, the E-3 path avoids the H-1B lottery entirely, meaning you can start without waiting for an annual cap cycle. Confirm which category fits your nationality before your first interview.
Time your application around H-1B cap season
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS opens registrations in March for an October 1 start date. Targeting Cognizant roles in December through February gives your recruiter enough lead time to prepare the petition before the registration window opens.
Prepare your credentials for a specialty occupation case
USCIS requires Sales roles sponsored under H-1B to qualify as specialty occupations. Gather academic transcripts, any certifications in enterprise software or SaaS platforms, and documentation showing your degree field directly supports a technical sales function.
Search Cognizant Sales openings through Migrate Mate
Cognizant posts Sales positions across multiple locations and practice areas, making it easy to miss relevant openings. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Cognizant roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're only applying where sponsorship is confirmed.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Ask your Cognizant recruiter whether the specific Sales role falls under a client-site arrangement or internal headcount, since client-facing positions can affect how the employer processes your LCA with DOL. Getting this clear before the offer avoids delays later.

Find Sales at Cognizant Technology Solutions JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Cognizant Technology Solutions sponsor H-1B visas for Sales roles?
Yes, Cognizant Technology Solutions sponsors H-1B visas for Sales roles. Cognizant is one of the larger H-1B sponsors in the technology services sector and has an established immigration infrastructure for handling petitions. Sales roles must qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, which typically means the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the job's duties.
How do I apply for Sales jobs at Cognizant Technology Solutions?
You can find Cognizant Sales openings through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles that include visa sponsorship so you're not wasting time on positions that won't support your situation. When applying, tailor your application to Cognizant's technology and IT services business, emphasizing experience in enterprise or B2B solution sales. Reaching out to a Cognizant recruiter directly after applying can also accelerate the process.
Which visa types does Cognizant Technology Solutions use for Sales roles?
Cognizant sponsors both H-1B and E-3 visas for Sales positions. The H-1B is the most common path for non-Australian nationals and is subject to the annual cap and lottery. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which has its own annual allocation that has never been exhausted, allowing year-round applications without lottery risk. Both require an approved Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL before the visa petition proceeds.
What qualifications does Cognizant expect for sponsored Sales roles?
Cognizant's Sales roles in the technology and software space generally require a bachelor's degree, often in business, computer science, or a related field, combined with demonstrated experience selling IT services, software solutions, or outsourcing engagements. Familiarity with enterprise accounts, long sales cycles, and specific technology practice areas such as cloud, data, or digital transformation strengthens your candidacy and supports the specialty occupation determination USCIS requires for H-1B approval.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if I get a Sales offer from Cognizant?
For H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March, with an October 1 start date for selected candidates, so the full cycle from offer to work authorization can take six months or more. Premium processing can reduce the petition adjudication window to roughly two to three weeks once USCIS receives it. E-3 applicants can typically move faster, with consular processing at Australian posts often completing within a few weeks of scheduling an interview.
