Align your credentials with Creighton's faculty standards
Creighton typically requires terminal degrees for faculty and advanced credentials for professional staff. Before applying, verify your foreign degree is evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluation service, since USCIS requires this documentation for H-1B specialty occupation petitions.
Target roles that fit specialty occupation criteria
Not every Education role at a university qualifies for H-1B sponsorship. Focus on positions requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field, such as academic advising with a counseling degree or instructional design with an educational technology background.
Start OPT applications before your program end date
If you're on F-1 status, file your OPT application with USCIS at least 90 days before your program end date. STEM OPT extensions give you up to 24 additional months, which can bridge the gap while Creighton pursues longer-term sponsorship on your behalf.
Browse Education openings at Creighton using Migrate Mate
Search Education roles at Creighton University on Migrate Mate to filter specifically for positions open to visa sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually parsing job descriptions that rarely state sponsorship eligibility upfront.
Ask HR directly about PERM labor certification timelines
If you're targeting a Green Card through an EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, ask Creighton's HR team early whether the role qualifies for PERM. DOL's PERM process can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS petition filing even begins, so earlier conversations matter.
Negotiate your start date around H-1B cap deadlines
Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer from Creighton in late spring or summer, work with HR to structure the offer letter so it aligns with the next available H-1B filing window.

Does Creighton University sponsor H-1B visas for Educations?
Yes, Creighton University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Education roles, particularly faculty, research, and professional staff positions that meet USCIS specialty occupation standards. Sponsorship is typically handled through Creighton's HR and legal team. Roles that require a specific degree in a directly related field are the strongest candidates for H-1B approval.
How do I apply for Education jobs at Creighton University?
Applications for Education positions at Creighton University are submitted through their official careers portal. You can also browse Creighton's open Education roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which simplifies identifying which positions are realistically open to international candidates before you invest time in a full application.
Which visa types does Creighton University commonly use for Education roles?
Creighton University sponsors a range of visa types for Education positions, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible categories, and F-1 OPT and CPT for current international students. For longer-term pathways, Creighton has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Creighton University expect for Education roles?
Expectations vary by role. Faculty positions typically require a terminal degree such as a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a relevant discipline. Professional and administrative Education roles often require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific related field. For H-1B sponsorship purposes, the degree must directly relate to the duties of the position to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Creighton Education role?
Timeline depends on visa type. OPT authorization from USCIS can take three to five months, so filing early is critical. H-1B cap-subject petitions have a fixed October 1 start date tied to the April filing window. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 typically takes two years or more from initiation to I-140 approval, not counting any visa backlog.
