Align Your Credentials With Creighton's Disciplines
Creighton's Instructor roles span health sciences, nursing, business, and law. Before applying, verify your degree is in the specific field the posting requires. A general degree in a related area often isn't enough to satisfy specialty occupation standards for H-1B purposes.
Request Sponsorship Clarity Before Accepting Offers
Universities sometimes distinguish between tenure-track and non-tenure instructor positions when deciding who qualifies for employer-sponsored immigration. Ask HR directly whether the specific Instructor role you're offered is eligible for H-1B filing or PERM sponsorship before signing.
Use Migrate Mate to Target Open Instructor Roles
Search Creighton University's current Instructor openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate. You can identify which roles have active sponsorship history, helping you prioritize applications where the path to authorization is already established.
Prepare for DOL Prevailing Wage Requirements Early
For both H-1B and PERM filings, Creighton's HR must certify your offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Reviewing DOL wage data for academic Instructor positions in Omaha ahead of negotiations keeps the process from stalling.
Gather Academic Documentation Before Interviews Begin
Creighton will need certified transcripts, credential evaluations for foreign degrees, and sometimes a course catalog to establish your qualifications for USCIS. Ordering official documents from your home institution early prevents delays after an offer is extended.

Find Instructor at Creighton University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Creighton University sponsor H-1B visas for Instructors?
Yes. Creighton University sponsors H-1B visas for Instructor positions where the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Positions in health sciences, business, and professional studies have historically supported H-1B petitions. You'll want to confirm sponsorship eligibility for the specific posting with Creighton's HR or international faculty office before applying.
How do I apply for Instructor jobs at Creighton University?
Applications for Instructor roles at Creighton University are submitted through the university's careers portal. Browse open positions on Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Creighton Instructor roles with visa sponsorship history, then follow the application link. Most postings require a cover letter, CV, and teaching philosophy statement. Some departments also request sample syllabi or evidence of teaching effectiveness.
Which visa types does Creighton University commonly use for Instructor roles?
Creighton supports several visa pathways for Instructor positions. H-1B is most common for ongoing full-time roles. F-1 OPT and CPT can cover shorter teaching appointments for recent graduates. TN status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying disciplines. For long-term positions, Creighton may initiate EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process once you're established in the role.
What qualifications does Creighton University expect for Instructor positions?
Most Instructor roles at Creighton require at minimum a master's degree in the relevant discipline, though doctoral credentials are expected for positions in health sciences, law, or research-intensive programs. Practical professional experience matters alongside academic credentials, particularly for business and clinical tracks. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree must correspond directly to the subject area you'll be teaching to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Instructor role at Creighton?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B standard processing typically takes three to six months after USCIS receives the petition, with an October 1 start date for cap-subject cases. PERM labor certification for Green Card sponsorship can take 12 to 18 months or longer depending on DOL audit activity. If you're on OPT, coordinate your offer timeline with Creighton's HR well in advance to avoid gaps in work authorization.
