The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Purdue University Northwest announces an exciting opportunity to apply for a Visiting Clinical Instructor position in our CAEP-accredited School of Education and Counseling to start August 2027. The successful candidate will teach courses primarily in the Elementary program, primarily the area of literacy.
Position Responsibilities & Description
The Visiting Clinical Instructor is a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position within the School of Education and Counseling. The successful candidate will teach up to 5 courses each semester, supervise teacher candidates in fields, and support program operations through service and committee work.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach five courses per semester (5-5 load) in literacy and foundational education areas.
- Attend and participate in Education Program faculty meetings.
- Engage in service activities that support the School, College, and University, including committee work, as assigned.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff on program assessment, accreditation, recruitment, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties related to the operation, continued accreditation, and advancement of the educator preparation program.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited program in Education (Literacy related)
- Minimum of 3 years as a K-12 teacher
- Licensed, or eligible for a license, as a teacher in the state of Indiana (license does not have to be current)
- Science of Reading endorsement or similar certificate
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated successful teaching courses at university level (literacy methods preferred)
- Experience with Learning Management Systems for higher education
- Awareness and knowledge of AI and how to effectively integrate in courses
