About the Global Fashion Team:
The Global Fashion team is one of eBay's most vital verticals, generating approximately $10 billion in Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV). Our focus spans key categories such as apparel, sneakers, watches, handbags, and jewelry. We drive initiatives like eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee, Connected Products, and Certilogo, all aimed at building the future of circular fashion. Our mission is to make sustainable commerce easier and more rewarding for brands, sellers, and customers alike.
Role Overview: Strategy & Business Operations Lead, Fashion
As the Strategy & BizOps Lead for Fashion, you will play a pivotal role advancing the success of eBay’s Global Fashion programs. This is a high-leverage role for someone who can turn ambiguity into a crisp strategy, align senior stakeholders, and drive execution across Category, Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering.
Using AI-enabled capabilities, you will lead work end-to-end—executive narratives and materials, strategic deep dives, and operational cadence—to translate priorities into measurable outcomes. You will report to the Director of Luxury.
What you’ll do
- Set the growth agenda: Translate leadership priorities into a focused roadmap across jewelry, handbags, watches, sneakers, apparel, and accessories—defining what to win, where to invest, and how success is measured.
- Run the business: Build and operate the operating rhythm (OKRs, weekly/monthly business reviews, initiative governance, decision logs) that drives clarity, accountability, and speed.
- Lead strategic projects: Identify the biggest growth constraints (selection, price/value, conversion, seller activation, trust signals), quantify the opportunity, and drive cross-functional plans with clear owners and milestones.
- Drive AI-enabled transformation: Identify where AI can unlock step-change outcomes (e.g., listing quality/attribute extraction, pricing guidance, personalized merchandising, counterfeit/risk detection, seller support automation), then partner with Product/Data/Eng to pilot, measure, and scale.
- Create executive narratives: Produce tight, compelling materials for senior leaders—problem statements, options, tradeoffs, recommendations, and clear asks.
- Unblock execution: Influence across teams, resolve tradeoffs, and ensure follow-through—especially when priorities compete.
What you bring
- Management consulting background: Proven structured problem solving and executive-ready communication; experience leading complex, cross-functional workstreams from strategy to execution.
- AI experience: Led or partnered on GenAI/ML initiatives with measurable impact (e.g., automation, model-driven workflows, analytics/decisioning, experimentation, or product features).
- Strong operator and program leader: Builds operating systems, drives momentum, manages multiple priorities, and closes loops with rigor.
- Analytical horsepower: Comfortable with messy data; able to synthesize quickly into actionable insights and clear recommendations.
- Executive storytelling: Able to distill complexity into crisp narratives, decision points, and compelling materials for senior leadership.
- Ecommerce fluency: Strong understanding of ecommerce/marketplace dynamics; Fashion and/or re-commerce experience is highly desirable.
- Influence without authority: Navigates complex stakeholder environments and drives alignment across Category, Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.

Align your experience to marketplace operations
eBay's Business Operations teams focus heavily on buyer-seller dynamics, GMV optimization, and platform efficiency. Frame your resume around process improvement, cross-functional program delivery, or data-driven decision-making in a commerce or technology context before applying.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before your first screen
eBay sponsors multiple visa types for Business Operations, including H-1B and E-3. Confirm which category applies to you and communicate that clearly in your application. Recruiters move faster when visa requirements are unambiguous from the start.
Target roles tied to specific business units
eBay's Business Operations openings vary significantly by vertical, including Payments, Advertising, and Seller Experience. Roles within established, revenue-generating units tend to have more defined headcount plans and stronger sponsorship urgency than exploratory or incubation-stage teams.
Understand how H-1B timing affects your start date
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS's October 1 fiscal year start and April lottery window directly affect when you can begin work. Factor this into offer negotiations so both you and eBay's HR team can align on a realistic timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
eBay posts Business Operations roles across multiple platforms, but not all listings surface sponsorship details. Use Migrate Mate to browse eBay's current openings filtered by the visa categories you qualify for, so you're only pursuing roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Prepare for DOL prevailing wage requirements early
For H-1B and PERM-based Green Card pathways, your offered salary must meet DOL prevailing wage standards for the role's location and level. Research San Jose and New York wage tiers for Business Operations titles before negotiating your compensation package.

eBay sponsors a broad range of visa categories for Business Operations, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students on valid status, and J-1 for qualifying exchange visitors. For permanent residence pathways, eBay has also filed EB-2 and EB-3 petitions for employees in this function.
What qualifications does eBay expect for Business Operations roles?
eBay typically looks for candidates with experience in operational program management, business analytics, or strategy within a technology or retail commerce environment. A bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field is standard, and many mid-to-senior roles expect familiarity with SQL, data visualization tools, or cross-functional stakeholder management at scale.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at eBay?

Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 and TN visas can often be processed within weeks of receiving an offer. H-1B sponsorship is subject to USCIS's annual lottery, which opens in March for an October 1 start. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorized work period before your start date to avoid gaps in work authorization.
