Tailor your portfolio to higher education
Emory recruits Marketing professionals who understand enrollment, donor engagement, and academic brand strategy. Highlight campaigns or content you've built for mission-driven or institutional audiences, not just commercial brands. Generic portfolios get screened out early.
Research which Marketing units are hiring
Emory's Marketing needs span central communications, the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory Healthcare, and individual colleges. Targeting a specific unit with a tailored application is more effective than applying broadly across the university's open roles.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before your interview
Emory sponsors H-1B and permanent residence for Marketing roles, but not every position qualifies as a specialty occupation. Confirm your target role requires a specific degree field before advancing, so you don't reach offer stage with a mismatch.
Plan around the H-1B cap and lottery timing
If you need an H-1B, registration opens in March and the lottery runs before April. Emory will need lead time to prepare your petition, so initiate sponsorship conversations at least four to five months before your current work authorization expires.
Understand what PERM means for your timeline
Emory sponsors Green Cards through PERM labor certification for eligible Marketing roles. The DOL PERM process can take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 is filed, so ask your hiring contact about permanent residence pathways during the offer negotiation stage.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Marketing roles
Filtering by employer and visa type manually across job boards is slow and unreliable. Use Migrate Mate to browse Emory University's current Marketing openings filtered by the visa types they sponsor, so you're only applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed.

Find Marketing at Emory University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Emory University sponsor H-1B visas for Marketings?
Yes, Emory University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Marketing roles. The role must meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard, meaning it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the position. Marketing roles tied to communications strategy, digital marketing, or enrollment management at Emory typically meet this threshold, though positions with generalized requirements may face more scrutiny.
How do I apply for Marketing jobs at Emory University?
Applications go through Emory's official careers portal. For Marketing roles, you'll typically submit a resume, cover letter, and sometimes a portfolio or work samples. If you need visa sponsorship, address it early in your conversations with the recruiter rather than waiting until an offer is made. Migrate Mate lets you browse Emory's current Marketing openings filtered by visa sponsorship type before you apply.
Which visa types does Emory University commonly use for Marketing roles?
Emory uses several visa pathways for Marketing hires depending on your situation. H-1B is the most common route for full-time roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for students or recent graduates from U.S. institutions. J-1 exchange visitor status applies in some research or program contexts. For longer-term hires, Emory has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship through the PERM process.
What qualifications does Emory University look for in Marketing candidates?
Emory's Marketing roles typically require a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, with senior roles expecting several years of relevant experience. For H-1B sponsorship purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the role's responsibilities. Experience in higher education marketing, healthcare communications, or nonprofit brand strategy strengthens your candidacy given Emory's institutional focus.
How do I time a Marketing job search at Emory if my OPT is expiring?
If your F-1 OPT is expiring, you need an H-1B petition filed before your OPT ends, with a start date of October 1 at the earliest under the standard cap. That means securing an offer and initiating paperwork by late spring at the latest. If you have a STEM OPT extension, you have more runway, but starting your search at Emory six to nine months before expiration gives you a realistic buffer.
