- Provide consultation on complex epidemiologic/statistical methods, study design, data limitations, and data models to other statistical programming staff
- Independently translate analytic specifications from a statistical analysis plan into R code to create analytic datasets, generating descriptive and inferential statistics, data visualizations, often involving novel variables or complex statistical methods, in consultation with the study principal investigator
- Serve as subject matter expert on appropriate use cases for, and nuances of, the variety of different Flatiron data modalities, including EHR-derived real-world data, clinico-genomics data, ML-extracted data, and claims data
- Apply expertise in cancer biology, therapy, and/or epidemiology across multiple major tumor types to analytic code and scientific oversight

- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across our medical and scientific organization to execute and deliver on client-sponsored research studies in an accurate, effective, and timely manner
- Lead initiatives for the continuous improvement of Flatiron’s proprietary analytical tooling
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

In addition, you’re an analytical thinker and excellent communicator with experience analyzing real-world data (e.g., healthcare claims or electronic health records). You’re excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day.
- You hold a Doctorate degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, DrPH) in Biostatistics/Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Math, or a closely related field with 4-5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 7-8+ years of relevant experience
- You have a deep understanding of real-world data and related epidemiology and biostatistics methodologies used to generate real-world evidence
- You are an excellent programmer in R (including tidyverse) and are proficient working in Git-based environments (e.g., Github, Gitlab)
- You have extensive experience conducting analyses with large healthcare-related datasets (e.g., administrative claims, electronic medical records, genomics)
- You possess the data curiosity to proactively identify and solve for unexpected patterns
- You have strong leadership, communication, prioritization and decision-making skills necessary to oversee, evaluate, plan and implement multiple high-visibility projects in a timely fashion
- You have the ability to lead projects and people effectively in a constantly changing, diverse, and matrix environment
- You have a growth mindset, are willing to learn from others, and are dedicated to promoting a psychologically safe environment
- You are passionate about our mission to improve healthcare through technology

How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Flatiron Health Visa Sponsorship USA
Focus on oncology-adjacent technical roles
Flatiron's core work sits at the intersection of cancer research and data infrastructure. Roles in data science, software engineering, and clinical research are the most natural fit for sponsorship consideration, align your application to these areas.
Understand the H-1B timeline before you apply
Flatiron sponsors H-1B visas, which means your offer timing matters. If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, target roles that allow a start date aligned with the October 1 fiscal year cap cycle to avoid gaps in work authorization.
Highlight experience with real-world evidence or clinical data
Flatiron's research mission centers on real-world oncology data. Candidates who can demonstrate hands-on experience with clinical datasets, EHR systems, or life sciences research will stand out in a competitive applicant pool.
Target roles that align with their Green Card sponsorship pattern
Flatiron has supported permanent residency pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 categories. If long-term status stability matters to you, prioritize roles in research, engineering, or data where employer-sponsored Green Card support is more common.
Verify sponsorship history before applying
Not every open role at Flatiron will come with a sponsorship offer. Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified sponsors and surface roles where international candidates have a realistic path, saving time on applications unlikely to move forward.
Prepare for a technically rigorous hiring process
Flatiron's science and research environment means technical interviews are substantive. Expect assessments around data analysis, software architecture, or clinical research methodology depending on the role, generic preparation won't be enough.

Does Flatiron Health sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Flatiron Health sponsors H-1B visas. The company has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions for skilled professionals, particularly in technical, data, and research-oriented roles. If you're targeting Flatiron on an H-1B, focus your applications on positions in software engineering, data science, or clinical research where sponsorship support has historically been strongest.
What visa types does Flatiron Health sponsor?
Flatiron Health sponsors both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa categories. On the work visa side, they file H-1B petitions for specialty occupation roles. For permanent residency, Flatiron has supported employees through EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories, which cover professionals with advanced degrees and skilled workers respectively. The path you pursue will depend on your qualifications and role.
Which roles at Flatiron Health are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Flatiron Health is most common in roles that require specialized technical or scientific expertise, software engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and clinical research professionals are the most likely candidates. Roles tied directly to Flatiron's oncology data platform tend to demand niche skills that make sponsorship more straightforward to justify to immigration authorities.
How do I find open jobs at Flatiron Health that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to use Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsors and lets you filter by company and visa type so you're not guessing which roles are sponsorship-eligible. Flatiron posts roles across engineering, data, and research, browsing through a platform with confirmed sponsorship history saves you from applying to positions that won't move forward for international candidates.
How do I time my application to Flatiron Health around the H-1B cap?
If you need a new cap-subject H-1B, Flatiron would need to register you in the March lottery for an October 1 start date. Aim to have an offer finalized by February to give your employer enough lead time. If you're already on H-1B or OPT, timing is more flexible, Flatiron can file a transfer petition or cap-exempt extension depending on your current status.
