We're looking for a Strategic Operations professional to help us accomplish our mission to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. Are you ready to be the next changemaker in cancer care? A note on level: We're open to candidates at the Associate or Manager level depending on experience and scope of prior ownership. Members of this team take on overlapping responsibilities while leaning into different emphases in partnership with our commercial and delivery focused leadership.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you'll report to the Director of Strategic Operations and partner with senior leaders across our Global Evidence organization—including our Chief Business Officer and leaders across Evidence Solutions and Commercial orgs. As Flatiron continues its next wave of growth, you'll contribute to a portfolio of initiatives that strengthen our operational backbone, sharpen business and delivery strategy, and embed AI and automation into how we work. Your day-to-day will include:
Strategy & operational support
- Partner with senior leaders to define, prioritize, and deliver strategic initiatives, from answering key questions about the shape and future of our business to improving how we deliver with scale, quality, and efficiency
- Produce insights and reporting that inform leadership decision-making; conduct quantitative analyses on delivery performance, economics, operational health, and commercial priorities as needed for your workstreams
- Synthesize customer, market, and internal data into actionable recommendations; build and evolve dashboards, metrics frameworks, and reporting that create a holistic view of performance
- Drive operational excellence and transformation, for example, process standardization, change management, transformation roadmaps, capacity and resource management, and governance forums in partnership with leadership
- Coordinate resources, timelines, and interdependencies across Evidence Solutions and adjacent functions as initiatives require
Project based work
- Identify, scope, and execute special projects within the Strategic Operations portfolio as prioritized by leadership
- Examples of project focus areas include: consulting-style exploration of new use cases, markets, and customer segments; business cases and leadership-ready deliverables for new opportunities; and operational transformation of delivery operations and other priorities under the Chief Business Officer
- Generate and champion initiatives based on quantitative findings, leadership priorities, and partner team needs; connect insights back to the broader organization so learnings inform product, delivery, and go-to-market strategy
Internal AI transformation support
- Identify, prioritize, and scope AI and automation opportunities across Evidence Solutions, Sales, Marketing, and delivery teams that don't require significant engineering investment but have meaningful impact
- Serve as a hands-on resource for teams adopting an "automation-first" mindset to solve operational and workflow challenges
- Develop non-technical solutions for prioritized use cases; implement tools, document capabilities, and support adoption where you are engaged
- Quantify impact in terms of efficiency, scalability, and margin; partner with cross-functional teams so AI initiatives align with broader organizational priorities and connect across teams and systems
WHO YOU ARE
You're a proactive, resourceful problem-solver who thrives in ambiguous environments and enjoys building structure from scratch. You combine analytical rigor with a builder's mindset, equally comfortable synthesizing data for leadership, scoping a special project with senior stakeholders, and prototyping an AI workflow to unblock a team. You love working cross-functionally to translate strategic questions into structured work, and deliver tangible outcomes. In addition you have:
- 2–5 years of experience in life sciences consulting, commercial strategy, business operations, tech/health tech operations, or a related field, with scope appropriate to level
- Demonstrated experience scoping and delivering strategic or operational projects—from internal special projects with senior stakeholder partnership to client-facing or consulting-style work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations for leadership audiences
- Comfort working with ambiguity: defining problem statements, work plans, and deliverables from scratch
- Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple workstreams and see initiatives through from conception to adoption
- Analytical skills with experience using spreadsheets, BI tools, CRM or operational data, and/or building dashboards or reports (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Google Sheets)
- Demonstrated proficiency in low-code/no-code automation platforms (e.g., Claude, Gemini, Cursor, Credal, n8n) with direct experience building automation scripts or agents, and strong aptitude and eagerness to build on these skills as the tooling landscape rapidly evolves
- Experience partnering with or supporting senior leaders and cross-functional teams (e.g., delivery, commercial, sales, marketing)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in healthcare, biotech, pharma, or highly regulated industries
- Background in management consulting, professional services, or delivery operations
- Experience with go-to-market strategy, market sizing, business case development, or operational playbooks and governance
- Familiarity with CRM or project/resource management systems (Salesforce, Kantata, Jira, or similar)
- Passion for cancer care or mission-driven organizations

Focus on oncology-adjacent technical roles
Flatiron's core work sits at the intersection of cancer research and data infrastructure. Roles in data science, software engineering, and clinical research are the most natural fit for sponsorship consideration, align your application to these areas.
Understand the H-1B timeline before you apply
Flatiron sponsors H-1B visas, which means your offer timing matters. If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, target roles that allow a start date aligned with the October 1 fiscal year cap cycle to avoid gaps in work authorization.
Highlight experience with real-world evidence or clinical data
Flatiron's research mission centers on real-world oncology data. Candidates who can demonstrate hands-on experience with clinical datasets, EHR systems, or life sciences research will stand out in a competitive applicant pool.
Target roles that align with their Green Card sponsorship pattern
Flatiron has supported permanent residency pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 categories. If long-term status stability matters to you, prioritize roles in research, engineering, or data where employer-sponsored Green Card support is more common.
Verify sponsorship history before applying
Not every open role at Flatiron will come with a sponsorship offer. Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified sponsors and surface roles where international candidates have a realistic path, saving time on applications unlikely to move forward.
Prepare for a technically rigorous hiring process
Flatiron's science and research environment means technical interviews are substantive. Expect assessments around data analysis, software architecture, or clinical research methodology depending on the role, generic preparation won't be enough.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Flatiron Health sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Flatiron Health sponsors H-1B visas. The company has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions for skilled professionals, particularly in technical, data, and research-oriented roles. If you're targeting Flatiron on an H-1B, focus your applications on positions in software engineering, data science, or clinical research where sponsorship support has historically been strongest.
What visa types does Flatiron Health sponsor?
Flatiron Health sponsors both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa categories. On the work visa side, they file H-1B petitions for specialty occupation roles. For permanent residency, Flatiron has supported employees through EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories, which cover professionals with advanced degrees and skilled workers respectively. The path you pursue will depend on your qualifications and role.
Which roles at Flatiron Health are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Flatiron Health is most common in roles that require specialized technical or scientific expertise, software engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and clinical research professionals are the most likely candidates. Roles tied directly to Flatiron's oncology data platform tend to demand niche skills that make sponsorship more straightforward to justify to immigration authorities.
How do I find open jobs at Flatiron Health that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to use Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsors and lets you filter by company and visa type so you're not guessing which roles are sponsorship-eligible. Flatiron posts roles across engineering, data, and research, browsing through a platform with confirmed sponsorship history saves you from applying to positions that won't move forward for international candidates.
How do I time my application to Flatiron Health around the H-1B cap?
If you need a new cap-subject H-1B, Flatiron would need to register you in the March lottery for an October 1 start date. Aim to have an offer finalized by February to give your employer enough lead time. If you're already on H-1B or OPT, timing is more flexible, Flatiron can file a transfer petition or cap-exempt extension depending on your current status.
