Align your credentials to Gartner's specialty occupation standard
Gartner's Program Director roles typically require a degree in business, computer science, or a related field. Gather transcripts, credential evaluations, and any certifications like PMP or ITIL before applying, since USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation classification for management-track roles.
Target Gartner's research and advisory business units first
Program Director openings tied to Gartner's research, advisory, or consulting practices sponsor more consistently than generalist operations roles. Prioritize postings that reference client-facing program delivery or technology advisory work when filtering open positions.
Search verified Gartner sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Program Director openings at Gartner by visa type so you spend time only on roles where sponsorship is confirmed, not roles where you'd have to ask during screening calls.
Clarify sponsorship scope before accepting an offer
Gartner sponsors both initial H-1B filings and longer-term employment-based Green Card processes. Ask your recruiter explicitly whether the role covers PERM labor certification, since Program Director positions can qualify for EB-2 based on the advanced degree requirement.
Account for the H-1B cap lottery in your timeline
If you're not already in H-1B status, the April lottery means you could wait up to 12 months before your petition becomes effective. Plan your application timing with Gartner's recruiter so both sides understand the October 1 start date constraint.
Leverage F-1 OPT to build your Gartner candidacy early
Gartner hires Program Directors on F-1 OPT, which gives you up to three years of work authorization if you graduated in a STEM field. Starting in an associate or analyst program role can position you for internal sponsorship before your OPT window closes.

Find Program Director at Gartner JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Gartner sponsor H-1B visas for Program Directors?
Yes, Gartner sponsors H-1B visas for Program Director roles. These positions generally meet USCIS specialty occupation requirements because they demand a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, technology, or management. Gartner files both cap-subject petitions for new hires and cap-exempt transfers for candidates already in H-1B status with another employer.
How do I apply for Program Director jobs at Gartner?
Apply directly through Gartner's careers portal and tailor your application to the specific business unit, whether that's research, advisory, or consulting. Migrate Mate lists verified Program Director openings at Gartner filtered by visa type, so you can confirm sponsorship eligibility before you invest time in the application process. Prioritize roles that explicitly reference client program delivery or technology advisory work.
Which visa types does Gartner commonly use for Program Director roles?
Gartner sponsors Program Directors on H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or professional categories. J-1 and CPT sponsorship occasionally appear for earlier-stage roles that feed into Program Director tracks internally.
What qualifications does Gartner expect for a sponsored Program Director role?
Gartner's Program Director roles require a bachelor's degree at minimum, with most positions preferring an advanced degree in business, technology, or a related discipline. Relevant industry certifications such as PMP strengthen your candidacy. Gartner places particular weight on experience managing enterprise client relationships and cross-functional delivery teams within technology or software environments, which also supports the specialty occupation determination USCIS requires.
How do I handle the timing between a Gartner offer and my visa filing?
If you need a new H-1B, the cap lottery in March determines whether USCIS selects your registration, with an October 1 employment start date if selected. Build that gap into your conversation with Gartner's recruiting team early. Candidates already on H-1B with another employer can transfer status and begin working at Gartner once the portability receipt notice is issued, often within a few weeks of filing.
